I typically listen to Celtic music as my go to, not specifically Irish though. Some bands I would recommend:
- The Chieftans - they are the best, period. I higly recommend any of the numbered albums. Their collaborations are amazing, but not specifically Irish, though hearing them play with a traditional Chinese choir or Ry Cooder is pretty special.
- Natalie MacMaster
- Dubliners
- The Irish Rovers
- John McKenna
Not specifically Irish but will pop up when you plug the above into Pandora or Spotify:
- Gaelic Storm - Irish/American folk - Though based out California - Highly recommend the album "Bring Yer Wellies"
- Lumineers - American folk
- Great Big Sea - Canadian folk/shanty/Irish
- Old Crow Medicine Show - American folk
- Mumford and Sons - English folk
- The Cherry Coke$ - Japanese Irish folk
What are you listening to at the present? (genres helpful)

Love The Chieftans, they're a great listen.
Trampled by Turtles is a good add to that second list you have.

Silly Wizard tends to be my St. Patrick's Day pick.

My psychobilly playlist just finished "Horny in a Hearse" by Nekromantix, now playing their song "Gargoyles over Copenhagen".
There's also some Cramps, Horrorpops, The Creepshow tracks and "My Love For Evermore" by The Hillbilly Moon Explosion (feat. Sparky from Demented Are Go) and "Deviant" by Dick Dynamite and the Doppelgangers.
Let me know if you can name some other bands and tracks to add.

See them live if you can. Paddy makes you feel like he is playing you a private concert. And he is a great guy to boot.Stark wrote:Love The Chieftans, they're a great listen.

Trampled by Turtles is a new one on me, looking them up tonight.

The Meteors are basically the OGs of the entire Psychobilly genre, and are highly worth a listen, IMO. "Only The Meteors are Pure Psychobilly" dontcha' know?REPO Man wrote:Let me know if you can name some other bands and tracks to add.
I've found Tiger Army to be a bit divisive among genre aficionados, but I love each and every one of their albums, which are all a bit different in flavor (with Tiger Army S/T (first album) being the closest to 'pure psychobilly' in sound and recording quality, although I consider TA II: Power of Moonlight to be their masterwork).
Another one that genre snobs seem to love to hate on is The Creepshow, but if you dig Horrorpops you should really give 'em a chance (IMO).
Edit: Oops! I missed that you had already mentioned The Creepshow.

I'm at this moment listening to Baroness - Yellow & Green. This is yet another album that takes so much flack for being a departure in style for the band, but when it's divorced from any sort of preconception it is absolutely brilliant. I have to be in a certain mood, but when the mood strikes this is pure ambrosia. Melancholy but hopeful. Aggressive but tender. Heavy but floaty. I can honestly say I this is one of my favorite double albums of all time.

I'm listening to... myself!
My friend just finished his contemporary epic poem entitled "GOD: An Epic". I'm running an online read-through and discussion of the whole thing, one canto per week. I'm recording an audio version for those who either simply want to listen to it, or have it as a supplement as they read (which I find very helpful).
I'm listening to it to make sure it doesn't sound terrible before posting
