Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
Re: Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
Apparently there will be gameplay footage and more at Magic Monaco in a month's time. I can't wait to see what the game really looks like in motion (so far).

Same here, even though I'm not a Shenmue fan. I'm mostly interested in seeing how far the developers can stretch their crowdfund dollars. I'll be impressed if this installment will be as large as its predecessors with a fraction of their budgets.

Re: Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
Is Shenmue 3 really going to be a thing just because a Kickstarter exists?
Shenmue seems like a magnificent series and its a good reason I may someday get a Dreamcast once I begin my collecting days, but too much time has past.

Re: Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
Um, it's already been funded. Sony themselves have put in money. Other companies have been brought in. Development has long ago started....
At this point it's either coming out (in another year or two) or it's going to be a very long-delayed, time consuming and expensive April fools joke.

The game is funded and mid-development. Rumors out there that SEGA is sitting on Shenmue I-II HD until III releases.

Re: Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
That would be a pretty dumb move IMO; it would be way better to release HD remasters of the first two games 6ish months before III launches to keep people talking about it and market it. Maybe digitally at first and then release it retail (because you know it would sell) after III releases or concurrently.Segata wrote:Rumors out there that SEGA is sitting on Shenmue I-II HD until III releases.

Well, it would fit in that SEGA has never handled the series very well. SEGA these days esp doesn't know how to handle it's classic series at all.
Re: Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
As far as I heard, the rumour IS that Sega is sitting on it to be released around 6 months before Shenmue 3. Not after it is released. Allegedly the reason it was rumoured last year but nothing was announced is because Shenmue 3 was delayed. They want to announce it and release it when the hype for Shenmue 3 is picking up and it's not far off from its release.
Of course this is just a rumour though and it's Sega, so who knows if a HD remaster will really see the light.

Isn't the Shenmue franchise owned by Sega?Reprise wrote:As far as I heard, the rumour IS that Sega is sitting on it to be released around 6 months before Shenmue 3. Not after it is released. Re: Shenmue 3 Kickstarter
Yes. SEGA didn't want t make 3 and allowed Yu despite not being with SEGA since 2006 to make it through KS. So they licensed it to him. SEGA really doesn't care for the series. Not that I blame them either as it burned them pretty badly.RCBH928 wrote:Isn't the Shenmue franchise owned by Sega?Reprise wrote:As far as I heard, the rumour IS that Sega is sitting on it to be released around 6 months before Shenmue 3.
