I'll be getting it because I'd rather play Rondo this way from here on instead of the PSP version, or busting out all those Wii controllers for the VC version.Ziggy587 wrote:I caved and bought a PS4 so I could get Castlevania Requiem. Any one else get this? I'm playing through Rondo right now. It's kinda cool that some of the sound effects come through the speaker in the controller. But is there no way to turn this off and just have all sound come through the TV speakers like normal?

I wear one that says "ask me about Stark's 2010 beard," which feels a little too inside. Not as cool as your button.Stark wrote:Couldn't be happier with this news as I never finished LoS2. Also PSA for any that don't know: these games are fantastic. That's why I wear a button that says: "Ask me about 2010's Castlevania Lords of Shadow."noiseredux wrote:Dudes, a PSA: all of the Lords Of Shadow titles are now backwards compatible on Xbox One!! :0

If anyone was still wondering about Requiem coming to Swtich:
GameSpot asked Konami about Castlevania Requiem's exclusivity and whether it was for a certain period. In a statement, a representative for the company said that, "as it stands, there are no plans to bring Requiem to other platforms--[Requiem] is a PS4 exclusive."

Sony apparently has a PSP wrapper working for PS4, and speculation right now is that this Castlevania collection is literally the PSP ports put into his wrapper. Almost no actual development work or porting was done. Sony is basically offering Konami free money for almost no work at all. And that’s why it won’t come to Switch. Nintendo isn’t offering Konami free money.

You're not wrong though, everything I've heard is that it was all Sony's work (or lack therof) that made this port. Konami as nobody should be surprised, doesn't give a damn to do anything thesedays. So on one hand it seems like it'd be hard to even blame Sony for this wacky port, they probably had jack crap to work with and no help from Konami or extra sources.

Re: Castlevania Appreciation Thread
I watched an excellent YouTube video today on this Subject. I’m assuming most of us retrogamers are already familiar with the “My Life in Gaming” channel for their in-depth series on RGB video and getting the best possible picture from various consoles. Their videos are consistently thorough. My Life in Gaming tends to take a relatively neutral tone. They base their comparison videos on facts, they leave opinions to a minimum, and they admit when they do state opinions.
My Life in Gaming recently posted a video that covered every version of Castlevania Rhondo of Blood and Castlevania Symphony of the Night. They covered every port and remake - including the PSP and PS4 version. They admitted that they aren’t technical experts in PSP emulation, but they are aware that Parappa the Rappa in PS4 is based on the PSP version. They posted side-by-side videos of every version of Rhondo of Blood which showed a certain graphical error is only present in the PSP version and in the PS4 version.
My Life in Gaming could have roasted Konami and Sony based on this evidence, but they retained their neutral tone. Kudos to them for maintaining professionalism!
Search YouTube for “My Life in Gaming Castlevania” to see the video for yourself. Highly recommended! Sorry I can’t post a link right now; I’m on my smartphone.

I'm not exactly sure why this is such a big deal. It's still making two popular Castlevania titles more accessible to people in 2018.
Re: Castlevania Appreciation Thread
It's not a big deal, really, unless you don't own a PS4. I don't. And I think these titles would be great on Switch. And I'm just generally pissed at Konami for sitting on this massive pile of compelling IP and doing nothing with it because CASINOS AND MOBILE!

yup. That's the bummer here. I totally understand WHY it's a Sony exclusive. But I still think it sucks.marurun wrote:It's not a big deal, really, unless you don't own a PS4.

For what it’s worth, My Life in Gaming did conclude that the PS4 version is still a good version of the game. They simply recommended that gamers should play any version they can get their hands on.
