Broad philosophical concepts which are, in turn, were codified into international and national law in some countries.

When the anarchists burned down churches back in the XIX century, that was a violation of Christians' freedom of religion despite goverments not being (generally) involved. Similarly, when D&D was forced out of stores by Christian groups, that was a violation of Wizard of the Coast's freedom of speech.

I am serious here. I cannot conceive of protections of religion and speech broader than what we have in the United States, and I would like to read your thoughts on how they could be broader.

Again, there is freedom of speech and religion from government persecution. You can tell your boss he is a dhmbass and your company will fire you. Should he be able to tout freedom of speech? The government won't arrest him, but he can surely be fired. Nothing is stopping someone from saying most everything they want, threats aside. But if they want to get along with others and hold a job, they would need to have some filter. To say otherwise strikes me as absurd.

Take that up with the NFL. They have made a rule not to say such things on social media. Doing so creates a media storm, bad PR, and causes a distraction which is detrimental to the bottom line and team chemistry/ on field performance.

The NFL isnt saying he has to like it or can't talk about it, he just cant announce it on public social media.

Yea that has always bugged the hell out of me. In my state there is a law that when a server has a table leave the restaurant without paying the server doesn't have to cover the bill themselves but since you can be fired for any reason pretty much every place will fire you on the spot if you don't pay it but say it's for a different reason. There is pretty much no job protection and the view of many is that everyone is replaceable but fail to take into account the time it takes to train someone.

This is it exactly. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from the consequences of your speech. It means only that the government will not take any action to prohibit you from speaking or punish you for speaking. Others are perfectly free to condemn or criticize your statements, and they are likewise free to take other actions as a result of your speech (such as boycotting your business, refusing to associate with you, terminating your employment, etc.).

People who hold offensive viewpoints often use the concept of "freedom of speech" in an attempt to shield their views from criticism. Rather than justifying their statements or belief, they simply comclude that criticism of their statements is somehow an assault on their rights. In doing so, they both undermine their positions and display a gross misunderstanding of the "freedom of speech" concept.

Usually, the people who react most strongly to this sort of stuff are the same ones who have a suppressed inclination to it.

I think your choice of words, in the sense that you feel you were "forced" to "like" something, is particularly telling.
