Re: Who reads books?
I read books; Arthur C. Clarke, H.G. Wells, James Fenimore Cooper, Stephen King (Specifically the Dark Tower series), among whatever other good fiction/nonfiction I can find. I also enjoy philosophic writing, most notably Marcus Aurelius'.
Right now I'm reading Geoffrey Chaucer. I'm amazed by his ability to create verse that flows so well. I've decided to add him to my "historical figures you would invite to dinner" list (hey, there's an idea for a topic).

Re: Who reads books?
I just started reading Ender's Game. I've also been reading a bit of H.P. Lovecraft. My book reading is often cut into by my comic book and internet reading.
Re: Who reads books?
At work, I spend almost half my time reading etexts.
I loooooooove reading, what can I say?

Whoa, hey, sorry, Ack; out for the weekend, and look what happens.Ack wrote:Ah, yeah, I absolutely love Crichton's work. His realistic stuff isn't so bad. Disclosure is different, sure, but I found it better than Airframe. I really enjoyed Rising Sun however. You given that one a read?
And what graphic novels you reading? Fan of Marvel, DC, or some of the more independent works?
I read Airframe some time ago and enjoyed it; I suppose airplanes are more my thing than corporate America. Haven't yet read Rising Sun, but I've got Next to read... uh... next.
I'm only just getting into graphic novels, but I'm pretty much doing a sampling of the origin stories and first issues of all the superheroes I can scrounge up, with no particular preference of publisher or time period.
So far (just to name a few) I've read the likes of Batman: Year One, Green Arrow: Year One, and the first trade paperback collections of a few of the Marvel Ultimate universe folks like the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Also Just read through Watchmen, and it's my duty as a sci-fi fan to keep up with the Star Trek and Serenity material.
Re: Who reads books?

So any reading recommendations regarding the late JG Ballard?

Looking over this old thread, I've noticed no one has yet to recognize my oxymoronic comments about Ayn Rand, and the following "controlling and shaping your ideals" bs...

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. A tad visceral, just a tad.
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

Re: Who reads books?
I read a lot, but most of my reading list consists of non-fictional texts like books on history, religion, mythology. I do enjoy fiction, but only "classics" and well-known authors (ironically, most of them are of Russian origin, although I, as all the Estonians, feel slight prejudice against Russians). I have no love for contemporary writers.
