My wife and I watched Sweetheart (2019) on Netflix last night. It was a really fun indie creature feature with some really great creature design. Highly recommended to all the horror fans on the forums.

Well... that just saddens me. Especially Nicholas Cage, his name was a brand for a great movie(ConAir, Face OFF, The Rock, Matchstick Men, Lord of War). After reading about it a bit, I was told he makes the bad movies to cover up for his huge depts. But why would Travolta, Pacino, De Niro, Freeman, and even Bruce Willis walk the same path?

This also brings in another discussion, why would a producer pay Nicolas Cage anything if the movie is going to end up a bad one meaning it won't make money anyways?

There are other actors who seem to be holding strong to the top like DiCaprio, Pitt, Jack Nicholson(although retired. I also like actor comebacks most notably recently is Michael Keaton.

3 of those guys are around 80 so cant expect much from them lol. Bruce just needs to quit from the old man action hero. I've always been a fan of Keaton. He seems like a down to earth dude you can drink a beer with lol.

I think NIck Cage is kind of past that point (which was noted even a while back). More recent projects lean more towards lower budget, niche movies that may well just be stuff he has fun being in. IE, Color Out of Space or Mandy more recently.

For some, opportunities might have just dried up...but successful actors also can get to the point where they can just do what interests them rather than the massive commercial projects.

On that note, I think Bill Murray made enough money on crap like Space Jam and Garfield that he can just kick back and only make movies that interest him.

You are right, but DiNero and Pacino have been out of the game since like 2000, so they basically were out by the time they were 60. I hardly remember anything significant for them after 2000.

Bill Muray has quit early, I think the last significant film he did was Lost in Translation and The Aquatic Life when he was 54 only.

Why do you say he made so much money on Space Jam? I thought his appearance was close to cameo. Didn't imagine he will make money off that.

Thats a different way of looking at it, I just didn't think big time actors want to do small time films.

It's pretty much a perfect summary of Tarkovsky's Solaris
