I played the first level last night and was.... underwhelmed. I feel like this game got a lot of love when it first hit as a pre-order bonus. I'm not sure if I was expecting something more but it feels pretty generic to me at first impression.
That was the same impression I was left with. The combat system is nice, but the enemies and level layout are generic and repetitive, and it felt like you'd go through like 5 levels of that before getting to a boss.
It also does a thing I hate where it gives you a moveset, and then presents enemies that require specific moves to be used.
"Oh, this enemy is only weak to strong attacks" "You can only use your shield bash on this enemy"
I guess thats variety, but I don't feel like a badass stringing together my own concoction of attacks. I feel like I am playing Simon Says with a sword.
Okay so to take this topic into another direction for a second, what are some of your favorite SNES beat em' ups? I could never really get into the SNES Battletoads. I think I've played a decent chunk, but would like to hear if I'm missing some good ones now that I have a Buffalo SNES pad.
Batman Returns Final Fight series Rushing Beat series TMNT Turtles in Time Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage
And suddenly I'm drawing a blank but I'm sure there's more.
I dig Batman Returns a lot, but Maximum Carnage not so much. Both have weirder gimmicky stages and I'm not sure I've ever actually beaten Maximum Carnage.

Do you wish to include hack and slash like King of Dragons?
