Assuming the bring these to Android - especially FE - Nintendo will be taking noise's money for the first time in years. Happily.
Re: Super Mario Run
Fire Emblem I'm curious what they'll do as Nintendo aren't IAP abusers at all and you really can't dice that one up much. Perhaps sell the game for $10, then have optional added fluff like 3DS had were you buy a bundle or a bundle price of all bundles.
Animal Crossing though I think probably is going to be obvious. General same setup of the existing model, but for all those people who are forced to wait months/years to find stuff or trade into things, you have the option of buying the clothes, tools, and furniture set of your dreams. They already kind of do it on that free game on 3DS within the Mii tool where it's like a coin drop and if it lands on a ledge you get costumes for your Mii. Go see Nook, and have the option to pay $4.99 and get the entire 'RANCH' house set (all furniture, wallpaper, and flooring.) Or go to the sisters, and get the entire Samurai head, shirt, legs and shoes outfit for $2.99. They'd make a killing without compromising AC and making it a coining lame nightmare with recharge meters and other garbage like that existing knockoff on Android has (castaway island I think the name is.)

Re: Super Mario Run
I don't know how nintendo could do an energy system with animal crossing. Second, if you think they are alright with their in app purchases, then clearly there is a conflict if you suggest they charge you $5 for a furniture set. My guess was that they would have a happy home designer style game, leaving the full fledged titles open for the switch.
Maybe that is why the two were delayed because they were planned to be tie in games for the switch. Who knows! Maybe we will see them pop up during the switch conference

Square Enix already charges a ton for their mobile releases, so I don't see why Nintendo couldn't do the same with Fire Emblem. And it would definitely fit the platform well, as would Advance Wars.

I don't think Advance Wars has enough waifu-bait to be considered a marketable expense of capital anymore given that they could be using that same capital and energy to make more Fire EmblemSarge wrote:Square Enix already charges a ton for their mobile releases, so I don't see why Nintendo couldn't do the same with Fire Emblem. Oh, ye of little faith. I guarantee you they could work it in. Not like Fire Emblem was full of waifu bait to begin with, and look what they did!PartridgeSenpai wrote:I don't think Advance Wars has enough waifu-bait to be considered a marketable expense of capital anymore given that they could be using that same capital and energy to make more Fire EmblemSarge wrote:Square Enix already charges a ton for their mobile releases, so I don't see why Nintendo couldn't do the same with Fire Emblem. Besides, isn't Valkyria Chronicles quite lauded? And they managed to work in some beach scenes or something. Ramp up the anime quotient, add relationships between commanders and BAM! Instant waifu bait.
Re: Super Mario Run
Giant Bomb on their podcast didn't sound too hot on this. While this isn't a knock on Run specifically, they did mention a trend in recent Mario games that I seem to dislike as well... but anyone else feel like the series has gotten a bit over the top with the coin collecting? Coins were always statically placed and reserved in the earlier half of the series, it was generally pretty special getting that 100 for another 1-Up. But yeah, now coins litter the maps, switches and buttons spark chain reactions of coin snakes and coin dances for you to jump hoops through, etc haha.
Not like a deal breaker at all, but coin usage is definitely different in the New series.
In fairness it seems more fitting here with Run. So I think I'm just back to the "New/Run art style sucks" punching bag. Seriously hope the next 2D Mario has a new look.

Re: Super Mario Run
Nah 'Run' aside you're right. It has become overbearing how they put not just so many total out there, but also the types of them. It becomes a real annoyance especially when you have to be made to find some 'or else' you can't go further, open a mushroom house, or even save the game. Coins were always about the points, and if you could get 100, the 1UP to keep you going. Now it's coin binging, and the 1UPs are handed out like water too.
