Just means you get to knock out a booklog via audiobooks. I drive 50 each way, and since I started doing audio books every day instead of the radio, about this time last year, I have gone through close to 100 fiction and non fiction.
So true. I've been loving Audible for this.

First, though, I will sell my Magic collection. I think I could reasonably expect to get 10-12k from it before I have to start cutting deep into my gaming stuffs.
Let me know what kinda Mtg you gots. I'm always looking to expand my vintage and 9394 collection. Still don't have full power either.... Do have lotus and three moxes though!

well I'm glad i'm not the only one who's noticed

O.k guys I'm game. First that hurt my feelings

Just kidding.
The only reasons why I sold my stuff was for these reasons and not just because
gamecube and ps1/ps2 collection: just moved into my parents and no room and had to pay off debt from apartment.
Dreamcast collection: paid off remaining credit card and rest of debt
genesis/snes/nes, tg16 collection: put the money on a house that I love today.
Saturn games and some gamecube: to get everdrives for the nes, snes, genesis, and n64
Yes I did sell a lot of stuff and got back and sold off again but it was for priorities that needed to come first. Needed to clean up finances and credit first
For me now I own all the major consoles and Gameboy and game gear, but really collect for ps1/ps2. I could of just went nuts yesterday and bought a good chunk of dreamcast games for 75.00 but I would rather have money in the bank have a different outlook in life. I also have jmbarnes who took the position as a game spender advisor also who keeps me in check. He really has become a very good friend and also there are people here like mike and brad and blu and jim and I know cd ages who will fly together to Worcester ma to kick my ass in if I lost the house because I used the money for video games.
So Like this for example, I just sold my tranformers for these reasons.
1. cant afford toy collecting and video games
2. cant play with my retro toys
3. I loved using the money to buy a gazebo and 4 chairs for the house. See maybe as we get older like myself, I have different opinions in life and different wants in life than video games. Its pricey now and I just collect for ps2/1 games and even then I wait till I find a really good deal.
If anyone wants to sell, Now is the time to sell. Especially retro games. The money is crazy now. If I still had my collections actually I would sell off everything and just play my ever drives. I cant tell the difference and except for a couple games Its the same thing

I don't talk about my selling on the site too much, and I'm definitely not culling my collection on the level of some here, but I tend to trim my tree a little close, excuse the analogy.
For example, my Gamecube collection is currently sitting at about 7 games, although there is at least two of those that might go. (GUN and OoT:Master Quest) My 360 collection is practically gone, although some are just floating around my apartment somewhere. My Gameboy collection is minimal, and I'm thinking of just flat out dumping all but the best options, and picking up the absolute highlights.
For me, I like to get the most out of a game (or any media) I buy. If its really, truly good, or just a personal favorite, its a keeper. If it's good or okay, I play it to 100% (or as close as I can) and then sell it. If it sucks, I drop it as soon as I feel like I can't do it anymore. For example, my graphic novels are beat up, I had to get my copy of All the Pretty Horses rebound, I had to flat out replace my Bible this year, and my copy of Arthur Rex has been rebound about 6 times, although most of that was from my Dad. On the other hand, I have books that are practically brand new after being read once and shelved. I dislike clutter, and try to get the most I can from a game, but when I'm done, I'm done.
Looking at my current bunch, for example, Hitman: Absolution, Dragon's Dogma, and the Infamous games might go after I platinum them, and Deadly Premonition was sold too. Sly Cooper collection is also in the mix to be sold, though I'm not sure yet. Essentially, in cases like the last one, I just give it a while, and if I don't have the urge to play, then I purge it.

I've noticed alot of people are selling too. Id say its mostly because the love isnt there in collecting. For me I collect because i want to play the games. I love older games and the nostalgia is awesome. But you have these ahole that collect just because and have no intention of playing and hording all the good titles to sell at top dollar value. Its really frustrating to be a collector and it really takes away alot of the love i personally have for it.

I did recently cut my GameCube collection from about 40 games to 20. I made a fair killing on them too, as mint GC games sell like gold. I sold off half those games to generate revenue to buy games for other systems. The GC games I sold off I had no desire to ever play again, and they were just collecting dust.
In that regard, I don't blame folks for selling games off for living expenses, or if they are using the money to buy new games. I just find it appalling when people simply "quit gaming" like it's some kind of negative or childish hobby. That I do not understand, nor could ever endorse. To me that's like saying I quit books, or I quit music, or I quit movies... just, no.

Also I forgot to mentioned. We are all getting older. And our responsibilities have changed. Weather it's school, getting married, having kids, new house, new apartment, etc it seems like our lives change and we have other things in life to enjoy instead of games.
