As I recall, it would remove the last point you put into a stat and bump your level down (so your souls for next level would go down to match). It also did a ton of damage.

Armor is useless in Demon's Souls aside from status resistances. It's all about the rolling (and to a lesser extent blocking). Magic uses traditional MP. HP replenishment is through droppable herbs (like Bloodborne but a variety of fixed strengths). I don't remember if there was MP replenishment.

There were plenty of items that restored MP. In NG+'s it's for the best to have a varied build in Demon's. Second Chance, Cursed Weapon, etc.

@noise, check this out: http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/1047/?

Mod for Dark Souls 1 to aid in multiplayer connectivity. You can even add a user's unique Steam64 id (whatever that means) to make sure you connect with them for sure.

I switched over to the Dancer's Twinswords and the Dancer Armor for my character. I buffed the Twinswords to +5 and they're doing quite solid damage, but more importantly do it quickly and with some good stunlock on them for minimal stamina. Going to see how long this lasts before I puss out and go back to a greatshield.

Steam64 id is like a long string of numbers that is used to define a member. I think it's basically your "real" username even though you don't know it. That would explain why you can change names.

Anyway, good to know about that mod. I'm not sure when I'll get back to Dark Souls in general. And I'm still undecided if I'll start with the first because it's the first (and on PC Gamer's current 100 list which is part of that project I've been doing for my site) or the second because you said it's noob-friendlier, or the third because it's new and shiny and everyone's talking about it.

All three at once with a single controller input.

I loaded up Dark Souls last night for the heck of it. But... I couldn't start the game. I have no idea, you guys. The character creation menu, no matter what I did the button to like confirm the character and start the game just remained grayed out. So I didn't actually play.

I did watch Flex play Dark Souls III via Steam broadcasting for a little while.

Ha, I actually started playing Dark Souls yesterday too. Although I was able to get into the game. Did you put in a name and fill out every field? I don't think it lets you create a char until you've done all that.
