Thanks! When it comes to shmups, I don't know much either. The Shmup of the Month Club (over the in the Shmup sub forum) is a good place to start with non-major shmup series I think. I suck at these games, though.
be sure to give Air Fortress a try. It's something of a rarity - an 8-bit game that innovates and yet still remains fun to play.

Review of TMNT (NES). An interesting case of how my nostalgia for this game is trumped by how much I really hate playing it now. What a miserable little game it is.

A sort of random and rambling look at game that I suck at and yet love anyway: Street Fighter IV.

Re: Self-intro + my retro review blog! The Annals of Retrodo
nice, dood.
SFIV was def one of my most played games of 'that' generation. Among all the iterations, I played it on PS3, 3DS and PC. Heck, SFV is pretty much the reason I'm finally building this bookshelf arcade stand thingy project.
Anyway, a quick side-note about TMNT (NES)... while my friends had it in cartridge form, and certainly I got to play it that way, the original Ninja Turtles game was always a DOS game in my household. Which is hilarious because - to add insult to injury - you can't beat that game legit. There's actually a jump in one of the sewers that was made too long to actually jump over in the DOS version.
I have heard rumors that the "Hero" Turtles version released outside of the US actually fixed this. And while I may have a copy of that EXE on my HDD, I've yet to give it a shot to confirm.

Thanks! Yeah I remember reading that about the DOS version. What a piece of garbage! I know some people get nostalgic for it, and I can understand that, but still...

I received a copy of TMNT with my Amiga. It's just as bad as the NES game. What a miserable experience indeed.

TMHT, ammiright?
That first Turtles game is one that I'm pretty sure is technically 'bad,' but I have such a soft sport for it.
