Am i excited? Yes. Will I be purchasing this within 3 years? No.

Not because I wouldn't purchase it day one, but knowing SquareEnix, we have a long wait ahead of us.
It's time to kick a$$ and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of gum.

So wait, what? Square had a FF7 PC re-release that's been out for a while now? Why haven't I ever heard of this?

Yeah it is just a port of the PC version with achievements. Nothing special.

It doesn't support higher resolutions?

edit: Also, it's a Square store digital exclusive? What kind of DRM does it have?

I was interested in finding out about those mods, but then you went and linked to Kotaku.

Okay, I gotta admit that was actually really funny.

However their third reason is kind of sad, because a lot of people actually believe that. Every time I hear FF7 brought up, even outside discussions of the remake, I always hear people say "you only like it because you played it when you were a kid, if you played it nowadays you'd realize it wasn't as good" or the similar argument of "you only like it because it was the first RPG you ever played."

Which are both really funny things to say since the first RPG I ever played was Runescape, when I was about 8 or 9, and I actually never had a Playstation when I was a kid. I only got around to playing FF7 about a year ago. Nostalgia ain't got nothing on me, in this case at least, and I love the game.
