Small update. Updated my cheat sheet with the last bunch that came in, and I'm officially at 350 games (308 licensed). They're all unpacked at my house and in a temporary resting spot -- the 300 that I have hard-cased fit very nicely in the storage shelves I have on the stairs going downstairs... but that 300 completely fills the shelves, so I gotta try to find a new place for them once I get cases for the other 50. And, y'know, the rest that come in after that.

Once I get my computer hooked up in the new house and order some decent paper, I'm gonna start printing off covers for all of them and make it look all nice-nice. THIS is the part I've been waiting for (yeah I know, I'm a shelf queen, shut up)

Please tell me you have a nice paper cutter for all those covers. I shudder to think of how long it'd take with a pair of scissors.

Metal ruler and an X-Acto knife for now (plus, obviously, so much cardboard to go underneath -- I did just move after all). Considering getting a guillotine paper cutter if I can find one at a reasonable price. But really, I'm gonna go broke on decent quality paper and ink first

Haven't updated here yet because I got frustrated with my first attempts to print - I have the high quality paper and a printer that everyone on TCP suggests, as well as several different programs to print from and in the first half dozen tries I couldn't get it to print at the right dimensions. But I wanna get back to it, because I'm having a party again in 2 weeks and if I can throw some covers up, my cases will look much more impressive

In other news, I'm at 327 in hand right now with 8 more en route... which means if I get just 4 more licensed games and I'm officially over halfway there. This is of course assuming my counts are correct, but I've been pretty diligent about keeping my spreadsheet up to date (at least as far as carts are concerned, I haven't audited my manuals yet) so I'm pretty sure I'm right.

So... I gotta start thinking about a ceremonial 4th game to buy. I might even ebay something if I can think of anything to go for.

Negative, and I don't even remember playing that as a kid... will have to fire it up for a test run soon, see if that's a contender

just saying... it's one of - if not my - favorite NES games ever. Sarge recently played through it and was impressed. I'm telling you. The day/night cycle, the music, the switching characters... brilliant overlooked game. Always my go-to when folks blindly diss LJN. Amazing game.

I'm intrigued... but at work right now, so I can't even rom it up till 8am at the earliest

And you gotta admit, LJN deserves a large portion of the flack it gets. ;)

LJN was just a publisher of video games. The only thing they produced were action figures and profitable contracts with MCA / Universal.

By the way, T&C surf designs isn't bad.
Jaws is a like it or hate it kind of game.
Back to the Future is surprisingly fun if you give it a chance - it just has nothing to do with the movie at all. It's more like a vertical scrolling shoot 'em up wherein you can't actually shoot anything - all you can do is dodge. It's a good challenge.
Super Wrestlemania is good cheesy fun.
Maximum Carnage is legendary - albeit repetitive (many beat 'em ups of the time were also repetitive).

Sure, they had plenty of bad games. They also had more than one good game. None of them are outright masterpieces, but they're better than LJN's reputation would lead you to believe.

I just get my covers printed at Staples. It's probably about the same price when you factor in the price of the printer and ink cartridges, and it's great not to deal with the headache of making sure it prints right; as long as you specifically mention the dimension that you want, they'll reprint them if they fuck it up. At least the one in Henderson has always been really good about that.
