Anime games that are good enough to be fun for non-fans too

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

Sky Crawlers
Blah Ha, bet no one thought of this one. An obscure game on the Wii coded by the Ace Combat Team with Anima from an obscure Japanese cartoon series.

Skycrawlers can be flown with a PS1 Flightstick!

Gundam: Endless Duel totally needs to be on the list.

Also, the Another Century Episode (ACE) series should be brought up as well.

And you would lose that bet. Check page 3 out.

I'm looking forward to watching that.

Sky Crawlers, the only really functional flight motion controls for a game on the Wii. I had it, had a couple other games too, it was the only one where using the Wii controller like a joystick actually flew right. It's an amazing game all around and shouldn't be missed and you lose nothing not having seen the movie.

Oops. Well, I did review it first if that counts.

Innovative of using NOT the Wiimote; instead the Nunchuck as the Flightstick tipping the entire controller. Throw in the Classic Controller connection; with a Mayflash PSX adapter a HUGE range of PS1/PS2 Flight Sticks to pick from. Surprised the Wii did not expand on a 3rd party real Flight Stick option, so many Flying games are stuck using just the Wiimote for flight. I have passed up on many of the Wii flight games due to not having a Classic Controller option.

I really didn't like the motion control based flight controls in that game, since they tend to accentuate the worst parts of motion controls. Namely, needing to be careful how one holds the controller in order to not input something. It's tiring, like needing to keep the TV remote pointed at the screen at all times to stay on a channel.

So, it was interesting to try, but fortunate that it's not the only option. Offhand, the game has anime segments that were made for it, and are nice quality. I want to say the movie added elements that weren't in the books (or in the game AFAIK) that made it more interesting, but the game is still nicely done in that regard.

Keith Courage in Alpha Zones is based on Mashin Eiyuden Wataru/Spirit Hero Wataru.
