What's your 2014 Game of the Year?
Re: What's your 2014 Game of the Year?
I don't know I guess for fully fleshed out story based games like it I just don't like touch controls...of course it only let you play the first chapter(which seemed long compared to the first one of ghost trick which capcom hasn't bothered to update for iOS8 so I can't play my copy anymore....

My favorites that I've actually beaten this year were Shovel Knight, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, and Kirby Triple Deluxe. Of those, Shovel Knight was the best, and absolutely nailed what I was looking for in a game of that type. Spectacular from start to finish.
EDIT: Oh, yeah, and Escape Goat 2. Also fantastic.

Mario Kart 8 is my game of the year. I spent the most time with it, genuinely enjoyed the online multiplayer and controls, and really liked the DLC - breathed new life into the game with how loaded it was. The pro controller is a must have for this - my favorite Kart racer of all-time.
Re: What's your 2014 Game of the Year?

I feel like that period in the late 90s when console gaming stagnated (pre-Dreamcast) and PC's offered experiences that bested the former's offerings. Nowadays it's different of course, indies are coming to consoles and big budget titles get released everywhere, with exclusives becoming more of an occasional event. But if you're already a heavy computer user there's little reason to jump on the PS4Xbone bandwagon.
Sony could have ended 2014 with a bang, releasing The Last Guardian as the venerable PS3's swansong but they dropped the ball again.

I didn't finish too many '14 games. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed Alien Isolation. I completed it on hard mode and enjoyed almost every moment.
Mario Kart 8 and Smash are right up there too.....rightly so.

Good to see more votes for Alien Isolation. Others need to hit that up!

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - first game to make me feel this happy that I've seen in a long, long time.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

So I shouldn't expect it to go up on Flake Industries?Flake wrote:Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - first game to make me feel this happy that I've seen in a long, long time.

My gaming tastes are fickle, hence the revolving door of hobby that is Flake Industries. I don't think this game is going to get laid off, though. But seriously, have you played it?s1mplehumar wrote:So I shouldn't expect it to go up on Flake Industries?Flake wrote:Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - first game to make me feel this happy that I've seen in a long, long time.
