You do realize, though, that you are the only dude who regularly (ever?) posts about having sex with their wife or partner (or with anyone at all, for that matter)?
Yeah, and I don't care.
You do realize this is retro game forum where people rarely talk about retro games? You do realize the thread topic is "Off topic"/Whatever?
Snark off.
I'm not trying to broadcast or boast, it's only that I'm madly in love and the woman means the world to me. She's a part of my daily life, so when I mention daily stuff, more than likely she is involved. And we're doing everything we can to have a baby, and it has not been easy, so again, daily stuff. If mentioning fooling around upsets you, that's your own hang up. It's not that I go into detail, I'm just jubilant to be with her.
Cantaloupe and fried prosciutto for breakfast, with a big ol' jar of whole milk.
Re: The Breakfast Thread
We always talk about retro games. Maybe you rarely do, but don't speak for everyone.Luke wrote:You do realize this is retro game forum where people rarely talk about retro games? You do realize the thread topic is "Off topic"/Whatever?
This thread is The Breakfast Thread. It's in the Off-Topic/Whatever section, but this thread should only contain talk about breakfast.
Not that I'm on the attack, just saying...
That actually looks really neat.

Nah, 'scool.
Check my gamesbeaten thread. I play em and beat em. I don't schedule my game time, so rarely do I do together retro, but holy fart look at how xbox1, ps4, wiiU and 3DS talk dominates the forum.
Re: The Breakfast Thread
Maybe this should be split into a new thread for us to talk about, because I feel like a lot can be said. Not to derail this (pointless) thread, but...Luke wrote:but holy fart look at how xbox1, ps4, wiiU and 3DS talk dominates the forum.
What I like most about this forum, and I think a lot of people would agree, is the diversity that we have here. We're all here because of retro gaming, and we talk about it a lot. But I love how we can and do talk about just about everything. I have one forum, one community, that covers almost all my interests. I can get a new CD and post about it. I can post a pic of a new guitar I picked up and talk about it. We even have the "we can have nice things too" thread that I can post any random thing I picked up. I can decide to build a tree house and post the entire process. I can bitch about how my check engine light is on and what repairs I have to do. World events. Et cetera.
But when it comes down to it, this still is a retro gaming forum. That's why we're all here, and that's what we've all talked about and continue to talk about (or at least most of us).
As for all the chatter about current gen consoles, well, yeah. They're new, so that's gonna spawn a lot of talk about them. It also helps that there's a lot of retro gaming and retro-esque stuff with current gen consoles. From all the retro games that can be bought digitally on them, to all the retro style or retro inspired games that are coming out for them (primarily the Nintendo consoles I suppose). It's never been better to be a retro gamer because of it. Just look at games like Scott Pilgrim, Sonic 4, Shovel Knight, and an almost endless list. Or games like Little Big Planet and the New SMB series, which are like "What if we never did 3D games, how would 2D sidescrollers look today?" A Link Between Worlds, which plays almost exactly like a game that was released in 1992. There's too many games like this to list. I'm not saying that we don't all talk about modern games on current gen consoles, but there's no wonder why we do a lot of talking about current gen consoles when there's so much retro-goodness on them.
Re: The Breakfast Thread
It's not the topic itself, it's the frequency with which you mention it and that it seems to be shoehorned into everything, like in this thread. Everyone who posts a lot (myself included) gets called out from time to time about bringing up a pet topic or phrase to the point of excess (ad nauseum, perhaps), and this is one you go a little overboard on.Luke wrote: If mentioning fooling around upsets you, that's your own hang up.
I'm jubilant for your jubilance, but I don't need daily/weekly updates on your sexy time.
Re: The Breakfast Thread
I mentioned "getting some" once in all the posts you quoted. You get a no prize for not making your point.dsheinem wrote: I'm jubilant for your jubilance, but I don't need daily/weekly updates on your sexy time.
And "shoe horned"? Again, you could learn a thing about writing from me. I don't force my wife into my posts, I simply include her as she is part of my daily life.
I like you Dave. Like you a lot. But I feel like I'm being attacked for saying "I love my wife" and in an rare occasion "Woo-hoo I really love my wife!", which is silly. And I don't give you daily updates on my sexy time.
Enjoy your weekend and don't stress and worry about what some dude on the Internet posts.

I don't mean to "attack you" for saying you love your wife, I just wanted to call your attention to how much you post about sex with her in case you weren't aware. It's just overkill. Does she know that you sometimes give us updates on whether or not you've recently had sex or are soon planning to have sex? It's just a weird thing to talk about publicly. I get the sense that Mike, noise, etc. also love their wives quite a bit and spend a lot of time with them...but I don't read about their dick in their wives' or anyone else's mouth (something you feel compelled to bring up from time to time).
Re: The Breakfast Thread
Oh, shit. Look, I really didn't mean to get all this started and I can understand how you feel attacked...but come on man, look at your response to the situation too. This is what I was talking about. Sometimes it is cool to just say "I see your point."Luke wrote:I mentioned "getting some" once in all the posts you quoted. You know a little self examination is a good thing. It is hard to do when you feel ganged up on, and I think you genuinely do just love your wife and are proud to share things about her. That's how it comes across to me, on the other hand I love my wife very much...I'm quite proud of her as well, but I respect her too much to talk about our intimate details on the internet. Maybe your wife is cool with it, obviously you should be the judge of that and not us. But, Luke, dude, look at the amount of people that seem to feel it is being shoved down their throat. Is that really how you want to make your internet buddies feel? Is it a battle worth fighting?
I hope you can see that although I used some colorful language in my previous post update, it was not meant to be an attack. Inflection does not convey on the internet and so, like others, you too may be misunderstood. When you come out guns blazing it doesn't help your case much. It's OK not to be the big dog all the time.
I'm sorry to have stepped in with my foot in mouth and stirred up some shit that probably should have been left between you and Hobie. I'm also sorry if you feel offended, or attacked by anything I have posted. How about we all chill and enjoy our weekend?
I ate Special K this morning, the protein kind with sugar free almond milk (this might need to just be my sig). Your cantaloupe and prosciutto sounded delicious though.
