If you can get it phoenixed for free, it's a good buy. Darkstalkers is about $55-60, one of the cheapest boards, and the mobo is about $30-35. So if you can have it working for $75, that's good.

Fox1 on Neo Geo.com is burning roms for $1 each plus shipping, maybe ask him to burn you some roms for it.

Re: Let's talk about your CPS2 Collecting + Price Guide
may do that. my thinking is i need to have my New Challengers reflashed too, so it'd be easier to do them both in one fell swoop.ninjainspandex wrote:Fox1 on Neo Geo.com is burning roms for $1 each plus shipping, maybe ask him to burn you some roms for it.

Dead boards can be alluring, but just know that not all dead boards simply need their program EEPROMS reburned with phoenix code. I buy quite a few CPS2 carts and I've probably encountered 4 of them with significant battery acid damage.
Yes, the batteries don't always die quietly and in worst cases, can damage the board beyond repair (at which point you just pull the mask ROMs and EEPROMS and hope you can find a donor board sometime). That acid will not only eat traces off the board but it can eat entire pins off of chips. I can post pics of you guys are curious.

hey Undamned didn't know you had an account here. That is true but can't you tell if it is just a Suicide issue if the game boots up to just a solid color screen?

Re: Let's talk about your CPS2 Collecting + Price Guide
It's entirely possible for a board to have suicided, battery damaged the board, and still boot with a solid color screen. There's no exact parameters as to where or what sort of electrical damage the battery acid can do.ninjainspandex wrote:hey Undamned didn't know you had an account here.
