Re: Let's Talk Guitars
So I set my SG up last night, I just couldn't wait. I cleaned it up really well, polished the frets and oiled the fretboard, then wired it up from scratch. A couple of minor negative things. One, I was rushing and accidentally wired the control knobs up backwards. Everything works, but the bridge volume and tone knobs and neck volume and tone knobs are reversed from the positions I wanted them in. I didn't feel like doing anything about it though, so I just left it like that for now. The other thing I noticed is how I don't like the bridge. It's an Epiphone, so they just used a cheaper bridge on it. The saddles are heavily pitted, so I'm guessing it's cheap pot metal. There's a few other minor annoyances with it, like how one of the saddle screws will some times vibrate. I've thought about replacing it before, but now I'm decided. Next time I do a string change I'll replace the bridge and reverse the knob positions. For now, it's fine.
But anyways, it's like getting a new guitar because I haven't played this thing in so long. As for how I like the pickups, well I only got to play on my half stack for about 5 minutes with them, but they sounded awesome. The Super Distortion in the bridge is definitely amazing and I really like The Breed in the neck. I have a push/pull for the Super Distortion for series/parallel, and it works really well. You can go from a lush distortion in series to less aggressive more classic rock distortion in parallel. Parallel is also a little brighter, so it helps to sort of "clean up" the tone. And I have a push/pull for The Breed to split the coil. The Breed has enough output where splitting coils doesn't leave you with a weak pickup.
I'll have to mess around more with it all today.

Trust me, they're damn good. I've tried several guitars from the SE line and they've all been absolutely fantastic.pierrot wrote:What! That's insane! I'm skeptical of this magical fairy guitar. Also while it's not 100% in the guitar realm, I thought I'd post this anyway. I got a couple new goodies that I'm super excited about!
I've been wanting a ukulele for a long time now. They're so much fun to play and I really want to learn to play some of Jake Shimabukuro's tunes. So I tried all....3 (yeah 3) tenor ukuleles at Guitar Center. One of them I liked. Didn't love it. Just liked it. Didn't like the price either. So I while me and my brother were out he says "Hey let's try the Bargain Hunt closeout store for one" and I'm like "Really? They're not going to have that shit in there." Boy was I wrong. Turns out they had the nicest Ukulele I've ever put my hands on at an insane price of $170, looks like it's never been touched. Retails for around $300-350 too. Here it is

Needless to say I played the thing all night.
Next up, just the night before, I was bitching up a storm due to my piece of crap mic I've been using for Skype calls. I mention that I wish I could get a Blue Yeti Pro but they're too expensive. I'm sure you all know the Yeti Pro is an excellent mic no matter what you're using it for. Well, turns out this Bargain Hunt place had the thing new in box for $100, so I grabbed that too. >_>

Needless to say, the thing sounds absolutely amazing. Check YouTube if you're curious of what all it can do.
Going through deleting inactive accounts of mine as a security precaution. No hard feelings, but admins, if it is possible to delete this account, please do so. Thanks in advance!

Love Blue microphones. I have a Snowball, and it has served me pretty well. Great deal on that Yeti, there.

Re: Let's Talk Guitars
There's something I forgot about my SG... The 11th fret on the G string will instantly ring out, always. Even at low volumes, it just rings out right away like crazy. I like to utilize it when playing in a minor E pentatonic scale. It sounds even better with the Super Distortion pickup now.
