Just my two cents here... Emulation hasn't always been that satisfying for me. There's something to be said for playing something the original way. But that can often be ludicrously expensive. Emulation breaks down that barrier. My Ouya let's me play things I could never afford.

Now, if I could only hook up the original controllers to the Ouya, I might not need anything else...

Whenever I emulate a game I lose the desire to go out and buy the hard copy. I just rationalize the fact that I essentially already have it spending "X" amount of dollars would be a waste.

I'm just the opposite. If I emulate it and fall in love with the game, then it makes it much more exciting to find the game in the wild. I love owning physical copies of games I love to play, even if I have already beat them.

The only exception would be for games that are way to pricey. Unless I find them cheap, I'll pass and stick with emulation.

Same here. I wish I could get my hands on Panzer Dragoon Saga, but it's become too expensive for me.

Yea, I was in this same situation.

I usually just burn the games or put it on a flash cart. They play the same as far as I know. Games are just too expensive now with the internet. I went to Goodwill and they were charging 10 bucks for regular spots games on the Genesis. Yea they had the case, but those games shouldn't even go for 2 dollars.

Playing on the original hardware is just more fun. That is why I do it. I don't mod the consoles for better audio or picture. I tried to use a component converter on a Genesis, but I have still yet to get it to work, so I still use composite, but I'm still having fun with it.

I use emulation for SNES games and still have fun with them. Though I regret buying those USB SNES controllers.

True that! When I was a kid composite was seriously like HD for me. I used RF on Genesis and then the Dreamcast. I would keep losing signal and get interference. Then finally the family got a new TV, and I was so happy and felt blessed that I could just use those regular AV cables and get a steady picture.

Depends on the console, but there is atleast one usb adapters for each major game console, some of the more popular have multiple.

For what it's worth, I recently went through the somewhat difficult task of selling all the games I own (save for the very brand new stuff). I was pretty afraid of doing so at first, since I kind of saw it as selling away my childhood, but I've been playing games emulated since then and it's every bit as enjoyable to me (although, as pointed out above, I still use the original controllers wherever that's possible)

I've fallen in love with shelf candy. Having the games all nicely boxed up, with artwork, on the shelves is just... I can't describe it.

For me, that'll keep me away from pure emulation for a long time. Even though I have flash carts for most of the systems that they exist for, have modded the majority of my optical drive based systems, and have terabytes of roms/isos/etc. I CAN emulate in various forms, but that'll never stop me from collecting legit copies.

But right now, I love emulation because it says costs, space, and time. I like having flash carts so my gaming room is not cluttered and I don't really have to be careful with them since I never take them out. I can keep CDs in just a cheap cd binder and not care if the disc get scratched.
