Do you hate the way HD movies look?

Film and TV companies are just going to need better production to keep up with high resolutions and framerates. I'm sure everyone here has seen something in HD where you can literally see the actor's makeup due to the high resolution.

It is my understanding that currently it cannot at 1080p, but can at 720p. Supposedly the Bluray standard only supports up to 30 fps 3d at 1080p. Now this will probably be updated next year when these 3d movies come out and they will simply be on multiple discs. Luckily, for now atleast, it looks like we will still get skip printed versions of the films for us 3d disabled folk.

Id love for someone to up the color timing from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2 (films are traditionally shot in 4:4:4), but the only people who would notice would be the people with properly setup tvs that are not crap brands. To explain this better than I can look up Chroma subsampling or just look at this handy picture from Wikipedia:

This is an interesting read about the 48 fps version of the new hobbit movie. Definitely touches on a lot of the complaints we have discussed here.

Exactly. It's not like movies can be more real than real life. So if the production is good, the movie should be good to...
