Re: Together Retro: Super Mario Bros 2 / Doki Doki Panic
I'm starting to think that the GBA port was made much easier than the NES original. I haven't played the NES version in many years, and I'm getting very frustrated with it. :\

Went through the first three worlds of SMB2. Had no trouble until Level 3-3, dying three times.

How is it easier? I haven't played much of the NES version, but they seemed the same to me.

I can't say other than I breezed thru the GBA port numerous times. Though it might be the stupid Wiimote. Gawd, I hate this thing. I tried using a GCN controller instead, but it still felt off to me. Don't know. :\

^I have a PS2>GCN adapter. I should probably just use that eh?

Yes.
World 1-3 takes you to World 4
World 3-1 takes you to World 5
World 4-2 takes you to World 6
World 5-3 takes you to World 7.
I used to do the world 1-4-6-7 route all the time. Easiest way to get there for me. If I felt a bit adventurous, I'd take the 1-2-3-5-7 path.

I've been dying a lot (getting through 5-1 was all for today!), but I still have an obscene number of extra lives. I suspect that that's what makes the GBA version easier.

I think you're right. I feel like when I'd play it on GBA I'd always have wayyyyy too many extra lives.
Re: Together Retro: Super Mario Bros 2 / Doki Doki Panic
Any tips or tricks to gain lives with the slot machine? My timing is never right as I hear a lot of "do do do do doos
" and not enough "De de de de dees!
".
I've even tried closing my eyes and pressing at different second intervals, to no avail.
