Finally got the hang of this medal craziness.

@Mike - I get it on Stage 3 by using the homing slaves to blast the trains while I shoot the turrets in the middle.

Is there a way to get the slaves to wing out? They follow me where ever I go?

Well, I've noticed they do 1 of 3 other things;

1.Post L&R ahead of you
2. Home in on enemies
3. Loop around your ship laterally.

I have no idea how to get them to do these particular actions, though.

But why tomatoes?? And how is a tomato supposed to catch up if he's been smooshed? Isn't it game over after that. :lol:

HOLD the Stick "UP" and Press START when you begin a game. The AIR PORT Stage will be #1 and the TRAIN Stage will be #3. This is the way to go.

Ok, here's how the Slave System works:

1. Icons control the Slaves. If you have 0 Slave ships, then the Icon will add ONE Slave ship to your Raiden Fighter. AND, If you have 1 Slave Ship following your Raiden Fighter, then the Icon will add a SECOND Slave ship to your Raiden Fighter. BUT, if you have 2 Slave Ships following your Raiden Fighter, then the Icon will change the Slave Ship formation of your Raiden Fighter.

2. Extra Raiden Fighter(s) + Bomb(s) = Slave Ship Formation.

#0. Front Fixed (2 way firing);
#1.A. Slow Trailing (for Hidden Planes); or,
#1.B. Fixed Position (for Stock Planes);
#2. Crossing (3 way firing);
#3. Enemy Seeking (Normal firing);
-----------------------------------------------
#4. Front Fixed (2 way firing);
#5.A. Slow Trailing (for Hidden Planes); or,
#5.B. Fixed Position (for Stock Planes);
#6. Crossing (3 way firing);
#7. Enemy Seeking (Normal firing);
------------------------------------------------
#8. Front Fixed (2 way firing);
#9.A. Slow Trailing (for Hidden Planes); or,
#9.B. Fixed Position (for Stock Planes);

I finally figured the medal chaining system. I can see where you have to do it on stage 1 to get good scores. I didn't get the 100K medals until St5, got tired of practicing stage 1 over and over.

Glad to see you're getting the hang of things.

Yeah, if all goes well, then I get my 100K medals on stage 1 (the Air Port Stage), if not then I get them on stage 3 (the Train(?)).

Now: There were two hamburgers; they were having a race. One hamburger was in front and another in back: what did the hamburger in front say to the other hamburger in the back?
Come on, ketchup! :P

Played one more game tonight. Can't say I'm a fan of the score system. It's turned it from a shooting game to a medal collecting game. It's not cool when the medals leave the screen from the top on the train stage.:?

Yeah, this is suffering from the same thing as Radiant - the scoring is so far removed from survival, it seems like "work", or at least, a completely different experience.

I prefer scoring to be somewhat intrinsic to survival, or at least not a direct hinderance to survival.

I can certainly appreciate the intricasies of those systems, but just not my preference currently.

That's kind of how I feel too. Radiant, RF2, and even Dimahoo are great games but I prefer to play them for survival rather than score. I just have more fun with them that way. Geez, I'm sounding like an old man. Maybe I should go play some Toaplan where scoring is survival. :lol:

I really like when scoring and survival are complimentary like Bakraid, Batrider, Garegga, Ibara or even risk/reward games that give you a lot of freedom to improvise like Ketsui and Mushi Futari. I'm looking forward to Mars Matrix in November, I think that will have a fun scoring system.
