There are a lot of really clever and high quality games for those platforms.
This. Smartphones are a legitimate platform for video games. There have been tons of high-quality smartphone games made in the past couple years. Moreover, it has sparked an indie game renaissance, which I think we can all be thankful for.
I thought a lot of the indie resurgence came from xbla, psn, and steam...

The general dislike for smartphones games I see and an opinion I share is that the controls suck. I hate trying to play games on my phone.
Depends on the game.

Care to name any?

Again, care to name any good indie games (there is plenty of 1990s shareware and flash gaming garbage out there that is independent) that were developed for modern smartphones rather than PC/XBLA? By good indie games I mean games like Dwarf Fortress, Super Meat Boy, Legend of Grimrock VVVVVV, Amnesia, Liero and Soldat. Reset looks kinda promising too
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Dungeon Defenders. It was an iOS/Android game first, then was ported to the PC.

Fair enough. I've actually heard people talking about that one on gaming sites so I guess it cant be all that bad. It's the only one out of the bunch though. Clash Force looks like a combination of Mega Man and Contra with changed sprites (the boss in the 4th picture is an obivous Dr Wily clone). Catball sounds like a Katamari clone for the chicks who dig cat pictures. I cant really comment the platformer games when I have no idea how hard they are

What does how hard they are have to do with anything?

I kicked in $99, and I can't believe after the better part of two weeks, it's already pushing $5.1 million!

I have tons of games on my OUYA wishlist, if anyone's interested.

Whether it works or not is really up to us as gamers. This system could be the answer to all of our prayers, especially on the retro front, who feel like gaming nowadays leaves much to be desired.

I read an article this morning about the anticipation of Halo 4 and it maybe the most sought after game of 2012 bumping PS3 Call of Duty BO2. What game will Halo 4 be moving out of it's place on the XBox? NCAA Football 13. A freaking sports game.

That alone tells me that gamers today are also having an issue finding games to really get their monies worth.

My $99 doesn't just go to getting a console itself or the company, but more of a message to every "big" game company out there right now. I'm giving my money to a system that doesn't exist, doesn't full work, and that no one has really put their name on. I'm putting my money on an idea. An idea of something that I've been waiting for since probably the death of the Sega Dreamcast.

I would rather put my money into an idea than a pre-order of "the next big thing."

thoughts?

I only went as high as $99 so I could get a console, but I only bothered putting money towards this because I love the idea of this console.

As for thoughts:

* Defense games and Galcon clones are NOT real-time-strategy games
* Farmville is not a tycoon game
* All of Kairosoft's biz-sims need to be on there
* If 7th Guest can appear on the iOS, why not OUYA?
* All the classic PC FPS games (Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Wolfenstein 3D, Heretic/Hexen) MUST be on there
* Warcraft and C&C need to be on there
* Would love to see the Touhou franchise localized and released on the OUYA
* If they ever release classic arcade games, do so via a channel of sorts, like a "Midway Arcade Treasures" channel where you can play games like Gauntlet, Smash TV and Mortal Kombat for up to a certain number of credits before you have to pay for the game
* one word: Metroidvainia
* I have a laundry list of indie and Flash games I wanna see on this, like Rebuild, King's Guard, and so on.
* Don't let my previous statements make you think I'm just looking forward to the OUYA as nothing more than a dumping ground for shovelware. In fact, I wanna see games that can only appear on OUYA. Otherwise, it's just being supported entirely by ports and shovelware.

The ideology is well-intended, but who will develop for it and how will they earn a living?

I hope you guys read that Penny Arcade article before throwing your money at this. The article shows how this kickstarter was intentionally deceptive. I wish you luck.
