Exactly what I thought. The most hardcore gamers will want to ensure that the experience is as ACCURATE as possible.AppleQueso wrote:I like how you're completely ignoring the fact that most emulators aren't 100 percent accurate.
Are you a COLLECTOR, or are you a GAMER?

Yeah, your 2012 pc can't emulate Raiden II, and that game came out in 1993!
Honestly, I don't think it matters if you collect dozens of games a month, or buy 1 game every 3 months, or emulate games on your PC... as long as you actually PLAY the games, you are a gamer.

Yes one from 1000 games isn't 100% accurate yet.

its way way more than 1 in 1000, if we are talking about perfect emulation.
Of course, that won't bother everyone, and there's nothing wrong with playing what you have. Just saying, there IS a reason to buy some stuff.
The one game I mentioned is completely unplayable via MAME, and is almost 20 years old. It was not an individual case, but more of an example of how some games, even really old ones that seem like they SHOULD be emulatable, aren't.
Nothing wrong with enjoying emulation, but it has its flaws. You pointed out flaws in buying games, it was only a natural retort to point out the flaws in emulation.

Re: Are you a COLLECTOR, or are you a GAMER?
No. Just no. It is more like almost every game is not 100% accurate. Emulators are not perfect. Are they often "good enough" for most? Yes. But for those that want their gaming experience to look, feel, and play 100% accurately, an emulator usually will not do.dtrack wrote:Yes one from 1000 games isn't 100% accurate yet.

Re: Are you a COLLECTOR, or are you a GAMER?
right, emulation is not always accurate (howewer i don't know for sure because i don't emulate), but pinpoint this one is silly as an act and seems most of you guys still missing the point. it's like if i'd say "yes i got it, so you only buy games that doesn't 100% emulated yet" while i know you don't. now we can turn a page i guess.

Re: Are you a COLLECTOR, or are you a GAMER?
True, but consider this: Star Fox is a game with over 20 levels (including bonus ones and the different versions of the asteroid belt, Corneria, and Venom). There was a limited run of competition cartridges used in tournaments. Star Fox goes for about $10. The competition cart goes for hundreds. The competition cart only has three levels, as opposed to over 20. Why would anyone pay more for something that has less content? Because there's less copies of it. By making the third object in the second situation, the values of the other two go down.Hazerd wrote:
