A good post indeed, but my biggest concern with this action is that it's most likely a direct response to the SOPA being shot down. It would be very hard to argue that MU being taken down within hours of the SOPA debacle is merely coincidence. It was a muscle flex and everyone knows it. The fact that they had all that dirt on MU and didn't act until now alone makes it obvious.
Also, they didn't even take the site down. It was just a DNS seizure, a few hours ago you could still access the servers via the MU's IP address and freely download all the files. The site being taken down was a spur of the moment decision. Hell, you can still get on the site via IP address as I type this, just can't download any files at the moment.
You also didn't address where they themselves uploaded and downloaded copyrighted material off their own site.
It is basically you feel you are entitled to free shit because you are a guy on the street needing a break and you think it is ok because it is stealing it digitally instead of a physical copy. It isn't much different than walking into a best buy or retail store and stuffing a blu ray under your coat and walking out... would you also justify stealing this way as 'I wouldn't have paid for it anyway so I am entitled to watch it for free'?

it's also kind of funny to me that the guy that "needs a break" can buy 6 DVD's and just needs a break on that 7th one.
I'd know because when I have used the site to download pirated material I sometimes was met with the takedown notice but, more often than not, was not met with the notice.

At €2 a piece they were a steal (no pun intended). So yeah, I bought them...
But wait, maybe I should've downloaded all of them then?...
