Don't use WebMD. When I was in library school, this is something that was drilled into me by the medical librarians constantly. WebMD has a lot of misinformation, so professionals avoid it. If you are really wondering about whether there are any medical benefits, consult a specialist. But don't use WebMD.

Yeah, I had seen that information elsewhere, but I just grabbed the first link that talked about it. WebMD is an absolute nightmare, I was just careless in grabbing a link.

After further research, I'm finding that physicians seem to be split completely down the middle on this issue. So... whatever, I'll just try it to see if I can do it. Masturbating less have made me feel so much more energetic, and that's enough reason for me.

That energy could be tied to having more serotonin in your system. Serotonin is a chemical that your body produces naturally and releases periodically when you have done something your brain deems to feel "good". Different amounts are released when you do different things.

Serotonin is essentially dumped into your system after an orgasm. The stuff does not get replenished instantaneously so people who gratify themselves sexually more often than their serotonin can be replenished can become prone to the more mild side effects of serotonin depletion: slight depression, lack of energy, lack of enthusiasm. Not a huge health concern but a reduction in self gratification could result in notable changes.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

2.5 days down and still going strong! December is the best month for this challenge (for me), as I am spending the week of Christmas with family and will have to share a room with several people.

That's really odd... my whole life, even when I waited extremely long periods of time between masturbation and a few years back when I was sexually active, it was always the act of sex that was gratifying, and the aftermath always returned me to a very sober state. I would tend to feel relatively pleasant if I felt I had performed particularly well, but the satisfaction felt more intellectually- than emotionally-rooted.

While this really isn't a complete explanation, it may be a clue as to what could possibly be going on: alot of my friends have hypothesized that I have an abnormally high distribution of serotonin. MDMA is really popular in my area, and it's funny because people are always asking me if I'm on it. I have an exceedingly cheery, jovial disposition, I eat very little, and my pupils are often extremely dilated (I'm not diabetic either, which is one false explanation I've received for the frequently dilated pupils). I seem to have lots o' endorphins too, so maybe that's a related factor is well.

Anyway, I think there's definitely truth to what you're saying. I don't really get outright depressed, but lack of active energy is a huge concern for me. My body always seems to want to default to sleeping for 12 hours, and I often find myself procrastinating and getting too easily frustrated with schoolwork if I've gone on "binges", let's say. I'm not sure if I'll ever really get that burst of serotonin after orgasm like you're referring to, but it's definitely been better for me to cut down a bit and focus my energy elsewhere. Anyway, thank you! Your post was very helpful and interesting! :)
