Smell is the sense most closely associated with memory, so it makes sense. For me, it's the smell of pipe tobacco and Apple IIe games since my dad used to smoke a pipe when I was a kid, kept his tobacco in the same room as the computer, and the smell was always there a little bit. =/

I laughed.

A handful of specific metal albums makes me think of Doom since I blast a lot of it when I play some. Definitely the perfect combination.

I never turn off video game music to play "real" music, but I do throw on CDs while playing old silent DOS games (like Ultima I). Mostly dark ambient or "dungeon synth" music. Good times!

I actually completely agree, Doom is the only exception for me haha. I still play vanilla Doom 1-2 with its music, but yeah with all the megawads I usually blast some metal.

I can totally picture that song working really well with DOS stuff, heh.

Now that I think of it........ I remember the AVGN calling the Jaguar port of Doom "Silent Doom" and saying "Just throw on some Slayer and you're all set."

Haha, I didn't know what to post until I read your "Good luck" and immediately though of S.T.U.N. Runner.

Whenever I hear or read "good luck" the S.T.U.N. Runner lady says it in my head.

I also used to listen to the same CD everyday when I was testing PGR4, so now if I ever hear a song from that album I immediately think of PGR.

Rainbow 6 Vegas reminds me of Queens of the Stone Age. I played that game cowering in corners, Raging Bull in one hand and Riot Shield in the other, but still felt like a total badass thanks to Josh Homme & Co.

Pizzicato Five's Playboy Playgirl album always remind me of Super Mario All-Stars...

Roseanne (The 90s sitcom, not Roseanne herself) and Final Fantasy VII.

I also tend to associate certain games with certain seasons. I associate the Katamari games with Winter, Rocket Knight Adventures with Summer, Hotel Dusk with Fall, etc. Anybody else do that?

And the smell of...something...tropical always makes me think of Shenmue. I don't know what the smell is but it's a pretty common air freshener scent. Generally red.
