No, you. I wouldn't buy a motorcycle because they are unsafe. I knew someone who broke their neck and got brain damage from a motorcycle accident. You have to be stupid to drive a motorcycle. Even if you are the most skilled biker in the world, it only takes one random asshole to hit you and send you flying.Breetai wrote: Inazuma, go buy a motorbike.

Make sure you don't stand next to a window during a thunder storm. You could die. Also, I hope you don't use a cell phone. They have been linked to high rates of cancer. You don't want to get cancer. You would have to be stupid to use a cell phone. Also, don't ever go to Japan. They have earthquakes there, and sometimes tsunamis. Thousands of people died in Japan from just that this year alone! If you disregard that advice and do go to Japan, do not eat blowfish. If the chef makes a mistake in the preparation, you could die a horrible death.

Re: Got a ticket for the stupidest thing today.
I would love to have a motorcycle. And not a crotch rocket but a REAL motorcycle. Inazuma you need to lighten up and live a little ! I have decided i'm going to fight this on principal. I wouldn't care if my town had more than 10 cops, but since we have so many there is a guaranteed chance i will see him again. It helps that the only judge in the town i live in is friends with my family i guess
. And other people have the choice of riding in my car or not. I don't force anybody to ride with me. As for being a projectile, I'm pretty sure a 3000 pound hunk of metal is a much more deadly projectile then 175 pound me.

Re: Got a ticket for the stupidest thing today.
MrPopo wrote: Yes he will. The law is very clearly on his side. He shows the documentation on his car, cites the appropriate law, and gets off. The judge might give him a small harangue that he should install seat belts but at the end of the day he's driving legally.
Assuming the judge cares about the law or the facts. It's not uncommon to find judges who will rule against you in traffic court, even if both of those are on your side. After all, they have immunity for anything they do in their job. Also, it will cost you more to hire a lawyer to appeal it, and even if you win you're probably stuck with court costs.
And god help you if you want to exercise your right to a jury trial, or public defender. They don't even pay lip service to those rights in traffic court. You will get laughed at if you request a jury trial in traffic court, even though it's right there in the Constitution.
Now it's certainly worth fighting. There's a good chance that if you show up for court, the cop won't. Facing your accuser is one right that's still respected in traffic court (6th amendment, same as jurt trial. Why does one right apply and one doesn't? Because fuck us, that's why), so it could get dismissed straight away.
We are prepared to live in the plain and die in the plain!
Re: Got a ticket for the stupidest thing today.
Nice to see we have a REAL man here! Awesome! If you didn't, that same cop would just be more likely to write bogus tickets for others in the future. Now that you are fighting him, you are definitely doing a good service to your community. I think that is commendable.Arbitern1 wrote:I would love to have a motorcycle. BTW, crotch rockets are a lot of fun! I've had both. Yes, of course there are risks... but, it life really worth living if you never take those risks that you dream about? Everyone answers differently, but I would say we would both answer similarly.
No need for a lawyer in a cut and dry case like this. No idea about US court fees, though. Perhaps you could request that the local police get the bill, since you were wrongly accused and it is 100% their fault. Also, it will cost you more to hire a lawyer to appeal it, and even if you win you're probably stuck with court costs.

Re: Got a ticket for the stupidest thing today.
I mean I'm not just nitpicking here. If it was illegal then i would install belts in my car. Simple as that. I have never really had trouble with any cops since i know most around here i know on a first name basis. Just kinda sucks. But it's whatever. I told my neighbor and he was outraged. He owns and drives a 1957 Ford Ranchero on a daily basis
. It doesn't have any seatbelts that's for sure!

Re: Got a ticket for the stupidest thing today.
Keep riding that bike, and there is a very good chance you will have an accident. It's much more likely than all of the examples you gave. Traffic accidents are a common thing, which is why I think it's smart to protect yourself. You can still get injured or killed in a car but it's safer than a bike.Breetai wrote: I did and will again.

By the way, I don't think I would eat fugu. Not really worth it.

Re: Got a ticket for the stupidest thing today.
Chances are i COULD have an accident in a 2011 Toyota Prius and die. If you die while riding a motorcycle i guess it's just god's way of saying that your time is up. I'm not going to prevent myself from living for the simple reason that i could die doing something i enjoy.
Re: Got a ticket for the stupidest thing today.
Aren't you a Debbie Downer....Inazuma wrote:Keep riding that bike, and there is a very good chance you will have an accident.
Of course I'd laid the bike down a few times. Accidents do happen. I knew that the first time I tried riding a motorbike. Heck, I had an accident in the first few days of riding. A car stopped right in front of me without giving me enough time to appropriately react (especially true, since my skill level was very low at the time). I hit him from behind, wiped out, bend the handlebars on the bike, tore my jeans and was a bit bloody on my right leg. But... I know that could happen full well going in. It was a risk I was willing to take, to try something I thought I would enjoy. Not everyone likes to enjoy themselves when there is risk involved. You seem to be one of those people. That's fine, but, good grief man, save the lectures. You aren't going to convince anyone of anything here. If the OP enjoys not wearing a seatbelt for whatever reason, and, 99.999% chance, the only person who would be hurt in an accident due to him not wearing a seatbelt is him. He knows that and has already considered it.
True, but... see above. It's much more likely than all of the examples you gave. Traffic accidents are a common thing, which is why I think it's smart to protect yourself. You can still get injured or killed in a car but it's safer than a bike.
It's cool to try once, even though you'd be paying well more for that kind of fish than other sorts.By the way, I don't think I would eat fugu. Not really worth it.
Now lighten up and live a little. Just, don't use your cell phone. It has been linked to cancer. Maybe consider a trip to Japan? There was a crazy guy who went to Akihabara a few years ago and went wild with a knife, killing a few people. So, there is a chance you could die between retro game shops there. Is it worth the risk? Only you can decide...Inazuma wrote:That's my line.Arbitern1 wrote:Inazuma you need to lighten up and live a little !

If I got a motorcycle it'd have to be like the one from Full Throttle.
