Aren't you a Debbie Downer....
Of course I'd laid the bike down a few times. Accidents do happen. I knew that the first time I tried riding a motorbike. Heck, I had an accident in the first few days of riding. A car stopped right in front of me without giving me enough time to appropriately react (especially true, since my skill level was very low at the time). I hit him from behind, wiped out, bend the handlebars on the bike, tore my jeans and was a bit bloody on my right leg. But... I know that could happen full well going in. It was a risk I was willing to take, to try something I thought I would enjoy. Not everyone likes to enjoy themselves when there is risk involved. You seem to be one of those people. That's fine, but, good grief man, save the lectures. You aren't going to convince anyone of anything here. If the OP enjoys not wearing a seatbelt for whatever reason, and, 99.999% chance, the only person who would be hurt in an accident due to him not wearing a seatbelt is him. He knows that and has already considered it.
It's much more likely than all of the examples you gave. Traffic accidents are a common thing, which is why I think it's smart to protect yourself. You can still get injured or killed in a car but it's safer than a bike.
True, but... see above.
By the way, I don't think I would eat fugu. Not really worth it.
It's cool to try once, even though you'd be paying well more for that kind of fish than other sorts.

That's my line.
Now lighten up and live a little. Just, don't use your cell phone. It has been linked to cancer. Maybe consider a trip to Japan? There was a crazy guy who went to Akihabara a few years ago and went wild with a knife, killing a few people. So, there is a chance you could die between retro game shops there. Is it worth the risk? Only you can decide...
