Opa will be proud, snagged this baby today!
My rule is no Survival Horror games before 1am so a few hours till the freaks come out...Cant wait!!

*I must say Iam disappointed in the manual tho, they used the same exact lines to describe both games and thats it.Thats the manual..
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

Okay, just a word of advice for anyone that's never played SH 2 before:

There should be two scenarios available from the beginning. They are called "Born From a Wish" and "Letter from Silent Heaven".

I recommend that you play "Letter from Silent Heaven" first. "Born From a Wish" is a sub-scenario; it isn't the full game... it's actually an event that takes place before Letter however you more than likely won't understand a single thing that's going on.

Would you just recommend the old PC versions over this then? I never beat SH2 and haven't played any of the others, I keep telling myself to dive back in someday though.

I'm just on the fence about this since it's not totally authentic, even though I'm no hardcore fan or anything.

PC versions are probably the best choice if money isn't an object. Last I checked they were still somewhat pricey and you need a decent PC to run these games. You also have to do a little bit of editing to get the game to display in 16:9. However, the PC versions have little bonuses like game trailers and quick-save functions and all the extra endings/scenarios from the console iterations. Also, the PC versions have virtually zero loading times.

This collection would probably be a better buy just for sheer ease-of-use. But Silent Hill 3 doesn't feature original voice-acting so you'd have to spend another $10 on a PS2 copy to play it in its original form.

And you can always get SH 2 on PS2/Xbox as well.

....So get what's most convenient. :)

It's been a while since I've played it, but if I remember right Born From A Wish actually gives you a little prompt about how you should play Letter from Silent Heaven first when you select it.

I ran into several issues last time I tried running the PC versions. Sound errors in SH2 mostly, and having to do hex edits to get it to run in hi-res 16:9 was kind of a pain too.

I'm behind on this thread, but does SH2 have the original voice acting in the collection now or something? I remember the guy who did the main character was upset about the change or something. I guess I played enough of SH2 to want to play it that way again, but yeah I could probably go with new voices for SH3.

Yes, they re-negotiated contracts so the old voices are back in (along with the new ones if you want those for some reason)

Yeah, Silent Hill 4, Origins, and even Shattered Memories (move support perhaps?) would've been nice to get too.

Hell I still don't see why they don't want to ever put Ps1 games in these HD compilations. They really don't look all that bad rendered in higher resolutions, even if they do look awfully blocky for obvious reasons. At the very least a download code or something would be nice. Silent Hill 1 deserves to be in a collection like this.
