CD AGES wrote:Yes of course. But it appears there will also be exclusive Limited Edition gems given to those who purchase that awful LE set lol! Add to that BS, certain retailers like Amazon and Lamestop will have a limited edition with different gems packed in. The other issue lies in future DLC gems Capcom will most likely flood into the DLC market... the game becomes a dishonest Pay to Win situation and basically another aspect Capcom has created into their product to further maximize their profits. People aren't to happy and I am definately one of them. I hope the game fails IMO. The game is a huge mess, and for what, to cash in on their consumers and the community!?

I'm waiting for Tekken x Street Fighter

Same here! That entire premise of seeing the SF cast in full 3D with more realistic visual representation seems WAY more ambitious and above all, more of a much difficult task worth experiencing. Namco defineately has their work cut out for them in this crossover deal, but I trust Harada san and his Dev team to pull it off :)

doesn't sound like it would bother me. I mean, the people I'll be playing with (people on this forum) probably won't pay for the DLC. And I assume online in general will have the option for ranked matches.

That's fine, to each his own. But also take into consideration that capcom has major knack as of recent to completely disregard a game's life cycle and quickly release a version that hammers out issues and updates the formula for a reduced price. They've already said that the game will be updated through patches and not disc releases, but that's exactly what they said about MVC3. And believe me, this game will be chalk full of issues. They claim that the gems are perfectly balanced and yet there isn't even a build for the community to test out for themselves and see first hand... Highly doubtful a roster of about 35 characters with access to over possibly 100 gems and infinite amount of possibilities in gem selection.
And I assume online in general will have the option for ranked matches.
O_o huh? Well every fighter today has ranked battles!?

Yeah....I'm pretty sure you can filter out the gems. They're using this game at the EVO tourney....and I'm pretty sure I read something about filtering it out or something....

And actually....I'm a bit more excited for Tekken X Street Fighter. I'm really curious about how they planning on using SF characters with the Tekken engine. I don't think it'll be like Street Fighter EX since Tekken is weird weird juggling n stuff.

joystiq.com wrote: Like the game that shares half its name, Street Fighter X Tekken will receive a free post-launch update aimed at the tournament crowd. Capcom hopes this patch will alleviate the concerns around the controversial gem system. In Street Fighter IV, it was a free update that added replays and other matchmaking features, but the exact nature of the free DLC in Street Fighter X Tekken is still mostly unknown.

"A lot of players were saying, 'I have to do button checks. Do I have to do a gem check now before a match?' With regards to that we plan to release a free post-launch tournament support mode," producer Yoshinori Ono told Eurogamer. "Hopefully from that we'll get feedback from the community, and then we'll have a better direction of exactly what we should do with this mode." Just so we're clear: The free mode will be released, and then based on how the mode is received, the mode will be changed? Crystal.

Ono also says that players shouldn't expect DLC gems at launch. Instead, Capcom is adopting a wait-and-see approach, gauging community reaction before plotting its next move. "In terms of DLC gems, we don't have any set plans on selling gems like this or like that," Ono said. "We're waiting to see what the user reaction is first, because we think a lot of users still don't understand the gem system completely. They're not power-up items. That's not how we see them. We put gems into the game which are default. As long as you have these default ones you'll be fine. If you want to get more gems down the road from the pre-order bonuses, you can definitely do that, but it doesn't make you stronger, it doesn't make you a better player, it doesn't mean you'll have an advantage."
