Can a restaurant refuse to serve you free tap water?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

whats DIAF?
I wondered that too. My guess is "Die In A Fire"
Correct.

This is a fairly clean looking and organized rave as opposed to the illegal ones where people would sneak into warehouses and have them. Since I recognize it, the track for the first half of the video is Front 242 - Religion (The Prodigy Bass Under Siege mix).

I would never go back to any resturant that charged money for tap water. Then I would hang posters outside their window, advertising the tap water being sold at low prices.

How could you hang posters on the restaurant if you're never going back to it?

I'm so glad we don't have the same tipping attitude over here. I tip if I deem the service requires it. You're getting paid to do a job, why should I be paying your wages. Granted minimum wage is relatively a lot higher than it is in the states which is why I feel justified in that stance. I get tips behind the bar, but that's because, time and time again, I go above and beyond to make sure customers are getting what they want, and trying things I know they'll like. I certainly don't expect tips. Although I do remember fondly the guy that bought a Sink the Bismarck off me (£72 a bottle) then gave me four £20 notes and said keep the change.

In the US, minimum wage is as low as $2.13/hour if you have a job that receives tips. Compared to the $7.25 minimum for everyone else, I'd say that the tipping attitude here is pretty justified.

Though it could be argued that the reason minimum wage got that low was that we had the attitude about tipping first, and the wages changed to compensate.

Servers in most restaurants here in the US make far less than than the $7.25 minimum wage, usually only receiving about $2.25 per hour, which is of course usually made up for in tips.

As a former bartender i've seen servers very upset after being stiffed by European tourists, especially on large checks. One time that sticks out was a party of 8 Germans who ran up a $300 tab and were very demanding to the server, who was a pro. They paid in cash, asked for some singles in change, and left her a whopping $4, $1 from each couple.

I wonder if anyone has opened a restaurant in the US where they pay a regular (good) wage to the waitstaff and don't expect you to leave a large tip? In other words, a euro-styled restaurant?
