I'm a construction worker right now. I graduated last may with a B.A. in history and wasn't sure what I wanted to do. My father has been building a mobile home park and needed some help so here I am. I do everything from building lawns to driving a bulldozer. I feel like I should be doing more with myself. I'm thinking of moving to the city and getting a temp job to gain some other work experience. Part of me wishes I had majored in computer science as I'm becoming more and more interested in them. But it seems like such a waste to go back to school again for another four year degree.
job
I'm a sysadmin of my company, deal with servers, backups, firewalls and whatsoever. Recovery from disasters and developing (scripts to automate things and so on). I'm on this job since 2001.. and I like it

That's one of the reasons I got sick of California.Mozgus wrote:I already said what's wrong about it. I literally have no way to communicate with half of them. Even my superior has no english skills. Imagine your boss unable to speak English, and every time you have a serious question, all you can get out of him is "...k...". That's the downside. Don't play the race card with me. Mexicans work fucking hard and I honestly hope they make way more than I do because I just don't wish to work that hard.nightwalker wrote:Whats wrong with Mexicans? I'm not Mexican but I got some Mexicans friends. I know sometimes they can be a pain in the arssssss even speaking the same language. Im just curious about that downside that you wrote.
Just imagine this exact situation wherever you go.
Need to try to find something obscure in Walmart? Need to ask for directions?
And don't get me started on how even signs in the Post Office have predominantly Spanish text. You almost have to search for English.

Oh by the way, I bitched and got moved to dairy and it's much better. All english, all nice guys, much more relaxed work. I love it. The funny thing is the 4 of us make up the primary shades of human. White, Black, Asian, and Hispanic. We just need a white girl and we'll be like the Power Rangers or something.racketboy wrote:That's one of the reasons I got sick of California.Mozgus wrote:I already said what's wrong about it.
