It came out to be very high six figures a year with full expenses while there. The job would have been very enjoyable to me, building up several hotels for hosting the World Cup. The best part was, the girlfriend would have gotten to come aswell, though she would have made alot less moneyBoringSupreez wrote:I'd have to be paid a lot to put my life in limbo for 4 years. The map is also a reflection of the U.S. media. Watch any U.S. news program. Their news is, for the most part, obsessed with the U.S. and the U.S. alone. When they cover nations outside the U.S., it's usually because those nations affect the U.S. in a particular way. With the Middle East, you learn about terrorists and oil. With Columbia, you learn about the drug trade. With the nations in Africa you learn about poverty, violence and HIV. It's perhaps the least informative news in the western world.General_Norris wrote:I see what you did thereMrPopo wrote:I think it's criminal [...] Carmen Sandiago

I've always assumed that all news was handled this way. I've never imagined that say, Japan's news reports much on things outside of Japan unless it actually affects Japan.martin31406 wrote:The map is also a reflection of the U.S. media. Oh, man, limbo doesn't even begin to describe what life would be he moved to Acre. Recurring joke here is that Acre doesn't really exist.BoringSupreez wrote:I'd have to be paid a lot to put my life in limbo for 4 years. Either that, or the work would have to be very enjoyable.

I think it's also worth mentioning that the United States is a large country with a large population. If you live in Europe and you're getting news from 2000 miles away, you're almost certainly getting news about another country. If you live in the United States and you're getting news from 2000 miles away, there's a very good chance you're still talking about a place within the states.AppleQueso wrote: I've always assumed that all news was handled this way. I'm not a big fan of American news reporting, but I don't really know enough about the news anywhere else to make any sort of informed comparison.

If you had gone, and not been able to bring her with you, you probably wouldn't have had a girlfriend anymore when you got back after 4 whole years.fastbilly1 wrote:It came out to be very high six figures a year with full expenses while there. Your right, she would have been my wife before we left, then she would have gotten to go regardless.BoringSupreez wrote:If you had gone, and not been able to bring her with you, you probably wouldn't have had a girlfriend anymore when you got back after 4 whole years.
Unlike most people, I dont need to be connected to survive. I use to teach wilderness survival classes and have spent several months in the woods surviving off the land. So the lack of a night life just meant I would be reading more books.jfrost wrote:Oh, man, limbo doesn't even begin to describe what life would be he moved to Acre.
