Gamestop selling off older games-Buy2 get2 free sale Sunday!
Re: Gamestop to stop carrying GBA stuff Apr. 3. What's next?
I plan on making the rounds this weekend. I've looked up some of the nearby stores inventory, so hopefully some of the stuff I'm interested in will still be there by the time I can make it.

Damn, I can barely remember the EBs here stocking GBA/GC games.
Xbox is on it's way out here too, I'll be stocking up soon.

Mine is just the opposite. Our Gamestops have plenty of GBA games, but we haven't had XBox games for a few years now.Dup wrote:Damn, I can barely remember the EBs here stocking GBA/GC games.

While I really dislike Gamestop, this was the only place you could buy legit GBA games. Ebay is full of bootlegs.

I will only buy a GBA/DS game on ebay when there are plenty of pictures of the actual item. Otherwise, I will simply ignore the listing since I don't like takin chances.
Similar to noise, I have seen many people obtain bootlegs from Gamestop.

We have 3 Gamestops nearby, and they have done the PS2 caseless bit. There haven't been Gamecube or original Xbox games in any of them for years, and nowadays they keep the GBA games in a glass case out front, while the PS2 games are shoved in an island display. One of them has a small wall of PC games, but the selection is pitiful, the prices are over the top, and the quality and upkeep of the boxes has been nil...so I wouldn't be surprised to see that go.
Not that I've bought PC games at a Gamestop in years. Nowadays I go just to see if I can find cheap PS2 games or perhaps a deal on something. You can bet I'll be making the rounds of Gamestops in the coming weeks to see what all is happening.
Of those Gamestops, one used to be an EB and another used to be a Rhino. The EB was good because the manager there was a great guy who really loved games. He had a huge store, he loved talking games, and everything was great. Then Gamestop bought the company, moved the store to a smaller location, gutted some of the older collection, and eventually got rid of him. The Rhino was great as well, lots of retro games for various consoles, some complete cartridge games, varying prices (some were great, some were lousy, but I still found quite a bit). When Gamestop bought them, they cleared out their retro stuff as quickly as possible, save a few PS1 games I found in there about a year later that nobody wanted. Now it's just another Gamestop, though I've never had a problem with the staff there. I'll be checking both of those locations first, as they're closer to me anyway.

there's one right down the street from my house but i'm not really interested in picking up too many GBA games at the moment so i doubt it'll be fruitful.

I checked out one of the two Gamestop's in town that is not absolutely terrible and their GBA selection is pathetic. I noticed they started the PS2 sleeves as well and that there seems to be fewer and fewer Gamecube games every time I step in.

My local store gave me a list of what gba games are in stock. I'll look through it and see if there's anything worth going after once the prices get lowered.
