I like timing battle systems like it, but it was just way too over the top for me. The further you got, the more combo's you had to input and it ended up making the battles feel like they took awhile. That's me though. I never finished it, think I got 2 discs in... but it was still enjoyable nonetheless.

I think brunoafh is kind of right though, I remember it was Sony's shot at the JRPG market themselves and they made a pretty big deal with it, and it was successful. I just remember it was a huge deal back when it was new, I guess it's a little buried thesedays though.

Should definitely mention the uniqueness of PS1 Arcade compilations. Atari Anniversary Collection for instance supports a PS1 Mouse and the Nyco Trakball. Missile Command, Centipede, Tempest and all the Arcade games with a real Trakball!

The PS1 Midway and Williams Arcade Collections as well as the Namco series allows for custom controls and DIP switch settings. Robotron for instance can be customized for Two Arcade Sticks for a perfect Twin Stick control. Unfortunately these features were not included in the newer consoles.

PS1 allowed custom controls in the Arcade Classics series. Player two controller can be customized to work with player one. Robotron Player 1 can control movement and Player two can fire. Now if two Arcade digital sticks are plugged in, the player two stick can be made as the directional fire buttons. See where I am leading? Single player now has Dual Stick control just like the original Arcade! When I first discovered this I was truly back in Twin Stick heaven! Notice there are no hardware mods, just configurations in the game menu.

Fully customizable controllers and Arcade Dip Switches for lives and difficulty, Unlike the newer console Arcade Treasures compilation releases.

Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman. A quirky action game by Agetec. It has this absurd humor that I love!

A prequel would be awesome

I haven't seen it too highly rated. I loved it when I first played it about a decade ago, but having gone back to it recently, it feels a little bland to me now.

Team Buddies, it's a mix of the goofy Worms series and your typical RTS game. It's the Command and Conquer you can play in front of your children! :D

This one is Omega Boost, a 3d shoot 'em up by Polyphony? It's been done before but at least it's done well here, the gameplay has you moving through the stage as fast as you can and shooting everything in your path.

I recently acquired this myself, a great game! I have played some rarities including PS1 Neverhood and Little Big Adventure. Yet this one has eluded me till a couple weeks ago.

That is the fun of it, no matter how many unknown games I have found, there is always another one to discover! :D

CatchFiveBats wrote:Silent Bomber - Great action game where you must (big surprise) use bombs to defeat enemies. The ability to set multiple bombs and then detonate them in the order you set them (I think that's how it worked, been a while since I played it) was awesome.

SECONDED!

I recommend Silent Bomber all the time. It's a great game that for some reason most people have never heard of. It's really fast paced action. You launch sticky bombs, run away, and detonate. It's a really cool game mechanic. This is one of the better action games on the PS1.
