Still, the Starlight Zone song is better!

Damn straight. Really the best tunes were in Sonic & Knuckles, though that ice stage theme in Sonic 3 was awesome
The best tunes were in sonic 2 if you ask me. Chemical plant and mystic cave themes kicked ass. I'll give S&K its due though - I love Flying Battery's theme

Yeah Sonic 1 and 2 had good themes too, but I really loved the ones in S&K. The boss themes especially and Final Doomsday. Project Chaos only strengthened my love of S&K's tunes. Check out youtube if you don't know what Project Chaos is. They actually did an awesome remix of Flying Battery's theme

The 2 player mode music for mystic cave is sweet

I feel compelled to download some sonic music and burn it to a cd. Then I can cruise down the street and be badass and pick up girls. Maybe I'll buy one of these:

Woo! Hopefully it's a repeatable accomplishment so you can practice later stuff.

Question, are you new to the 16-bit Sonic games? If so, I think you'll love Sonic 3 and Knuckles when you get around to it

I remembered this old thread and thought it was appropriate to post this no where else but here...

I've never beaten Sonic 1. I've beaten Sonic 2, 3&K, but never the first game. And honestly, it's because of the damn Labyrinth stage. I always love to play Sonic 2 and 3, but for some reason I never really tried too hard with the first one. I think it might actually be because of the Labyrinth stage. When I get up to it I'm thinking, "Oh, here we go," and already have an attitude that leads to rage quit. Once or twice I got up to the boss, but I've yet to beat it. And the boss, just like the level itself, is annoying.

I played Sonic 1 a few nights ago, and for the first time in a long time. I got up to the Labyrinth zone and died on the first act (stupid instant kill spikes). I had plenty of lives left, but after starting at the beginning of the level I had no motivation and decided to shut it off. I do wanna try and finally beat this game, though.
