I dunno, man. I'm getting kinda tired of this piracy stuff. I think it's going to destroy the game industry one day

Or turn it into free to play ad/micro transaction supported stuff? The industry won't be able to afford as fancy graphics as we are used to right away, but it should open the market to billions (literally) instead of the about 200 million that have supported it for the past 20 years. Blockbuster movies usually cost more than games to make, but manage to make it back by being available to a much larger audience and at a lower barrier of entry.Weekend_Warrior wrote:I dunno, man. The best stuff to come out of this will have nothing to do with piracy. Many would agree. There's not that many PS3 games I care to own (right now) and the few that I want I will buy. However, being able to run many great emulators on my PS3 with out the need to mod the console is great news.Weekend_Warrior wrote:I dunno, man. I'm getting kinda tired of this piracy stuff. Dear lord I hope this doesn't happen... I record everything I want to watch on TV so that I can fast forward through the advertisements. Ads before videos played online are another thing that has diminished that experience... watching a 30 second ad before playing a 1 minute video is lame. Micro transactions don't seem very appealing either, I have yet to purchase an item for TF 2 and only buy XBLA/PSN games if they go on sale. Maybe I'm picky but if I'm going to play a game I don't want ads popping up while I sit there and wait.ZeroAX wrote:Or turn it into free to play ad/micro transaction supported stuff?

Yeah, but I don't think there's a better example of micro transactions out there. You can get all the items with a lot of patience and playing, plus they added that thing where you give money to the map makers which is awesome. Damn it Valve please never change.JordanPlayer wrote: I have yet to purchase an item for TF 2 .

Actually the video game industry as a whole makes more than that of the worldwide motion picture industry at the moment.ZeroAX wrote:Or turn it into free to play ad/micro transaction supported stuff? EDIT!: Remember, we aren't the primary consumer and never have been. Everyone wants the masses while keeping the niche that pays the bills in the off season happy.
So, while all of this can seem relatively easy to us and like a walk in the park just try explaining bit torrent or piracy and how to do it to an older person or someone with a lack of technical or computer skills and see them just get angrier and angrier. People want simplicity which is why consoles as a while are still so prevalent and why the industry is bigger than ever in that area. Meanwhile PC's and other more complicated game delivery services continue to either shrink or flounder comparatively.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

You could try the Minimus AVR flashed with PSGroove? Flick the power switch, turn it back on. Hit the power 'button' then quickly hit the eject button. It should boot into service mode.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:So is there some sort of Jigstick yet?
I need to boot my 60gb and get it out of protect mode. The PSU burnt out and I replaced it, but now all I get is the YLOD when I boot.
