I actually think the cards are identical.. PS3 mainly suffers in memory due to using two 256 MB sticks rather than the one 512 MB stick that 360 uses... Just curious do you own and play GT5? The shadows in a lot of games do have pixilation in the PS3 so I agree as opposed to Xbox 360.. I also agree that due to the cell processor, that programming for the system is harder than the 360 since it basically uses PC hardware... I can't say that most developers have actually pushed the limit with the ps3... God of War developer claims that GOW 3 only used 50% of the ps3's power..Niode wrote:
Nope, the PS3 isn't as powerful as Sony hype it up to be. Just take a look at any number of the tech analysis articles on Digital Foundry. Devs really are squeezing as much out of the system as they can. It's main Achilles heal is the fixed 256MB Video Ram and the poor graphics card compared to the flexible RAM system (IE 512MB for the entire machine, can be assigned to CPU/GPU in whatever ratio the devs need) in the 360. The PS3 does certain things better but alpha transparencies are really poor on the PS3, hence the weather effects looking utterly crap in GT5. Seriously, it looks awful.

I think Sony made of mistake of going with a unique processer, they should have gone with something more conventional... Also I think the consoles of next gen should make Ram upgradeable to that of gaming PCs... one of the main reasons FF XIV was delayed was due to the limited memory of the ps3..
