Sir, I don't know where you're getting your info, but no one in the U.S. likes golf. People play it to torture themselves after a long week of work because otherwise they go through withdrawal.
if i can form a rebuttal against baseball game hate with MLB Power Pros, it's even easier to form one against golf game hate!

Honestly, I'm not a fan of any kind of sports. But they do make good games. Even golf games. Although, I've never been able to figure out a football video game. Football is just complex.

soccer, golf, tennis?

I thought we were going to go with a sport.

Baseball, football, or hockey would be fine with me. Maybe even a Mutant League version :D

Might I suggest NFL Blitz on the Nintendo 64? It's the only football game I ever played that I really enjoyed, particularly for the tackling system. Think of it more like a wrestling game with football trappings. Sure, it's all well and good that they've got more points on the board, I just suplexed their quarterback.

Honestly, even if we change the baseball category to sports, there's still a solid chance we'd end up playing a baseball game due to the large number of titles. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing other sports games be considered.

I don't think strategy will be easy to pull off, particularly RTS titles. There really just aren't that many console RTS games, and even fewer were spread across multiple consoles (Warcraft II is the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head). Turn based strategy however...well, there are certainly a few possibilities I can think of. But I'm hesitant to lump them into a single category with simulation. I'd like a clarification of what is meant by simulation: are we including titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator or Sim Chopper (which don't have console ports to my knowledge), or titles like Sim City, The Sims, Themepark, etc....or even Harvest Moon?

As for taking horror out...well, I'll miss it, but admittedly we've had quite a few complaints in the past when putting up older horror titles due to controls and gameplay mechanics, and the genre has a nasty habit of turning people away because they're too frightened to play. I don't mind seeing a year without one, especially since I'll still be playing them on my own anyway, as will likely other folks.

Ack, I knew you'd hate to see horror go. And honestly so did I. But Dave's suggestion was good -- bumping Baseball season up to September and keeping October for horror. The "ball" is in fast's court on that right now.

As far as why baseball was picked over just "sports" is because Luke had suggested it a while back and it stuck with fast. I think he likes to hang on to everyone's suggestions and try them out eventually. I'm not a big fan of baseball myself, but there's certainly some great games out there.

As to the "what kind of Sims" questions -- we were using Sim to describe games such as "titles like Sim City, The Sims, Themepark, etc....or even Harvest Moon?" mostly.

Ok, works for me. Thanks for the clarification. I'll say I support the new list then.

Ack, taking you and DSH's suggestions into account I sent this version of the list to Fast. That was yesterday though, so I guess he's busy. He hasn't answered yet.

Feb - Fighter
Mar - FPS
Apr - Adventure
May - Puzzle
Jun - Shmup
Jul - Platformer

What are some good multiplatform strategy games? Not sure how well that one fits...
