Re: Sega Genesis vs. SNES!?
Modified to reflect games from multiple regions, and re-group some games already in the list... My opinion only, of course

Re: Sega Genesis vs. SNES!?
Isn't it kind of futile to shoehorn the libraries of two early 90's machines into the nominalized tropes we developed in the mid 2000's?
It's not like anyone actually looked at these games as substitutions for one another back then.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I seem to recall people trying. I remember a lot of "oh yeah, well what does your system have to compete with this?" arguments.Flake wrote:Isn't it kind of futile to shoehorn the libraries of two early 90's machines into the nominalized tropes we developed in the mid 2000's?

Got any Saturn games?

Re: Sega Genesis vs. SNES!?
^ Nope. No games, system, etc. Saw a poor condition systm for $5 a couple weeks back, but it was too bad to rescue for that price. $1? Sure. NOT $5.
It was ditryyy. XD

Re: Sega Genesis vs. SNES!?
The Snes gets my vote for reasons already mentioned but I am enjoying the sega genesis more now than I ever did as a kid I am enjoying it for what it was not comparing it to the snes the peripherals and add ons sega had blew away what nintendo offered the six button genesis controller is one of the best ever.

Re: Sega Genesis vs. SNES!?
Being that role playing games are far and away and genre of choice, I'd definitely have to side with the SNES.
The Genesis really didn't have many RPGs that could hang with the likes of Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV and VI, Lufia 2, Earthbound, Super Mario RPG and Breath of Fire. I honestly felt like Phantasy Star IV was just as good as any game on the SNES but beyond that and two Shining Force games, the Genesis really didn't have much else to compete.
I also always had a much higher preference for Mario games as opposed to Sonic games. Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island both literally blew me away when they came out. No Sonic release has ever come close to either of those games in my opinion.

Re: Sega Genesis vs. SNES!?
i love games on both systems, but the genesis has a great selection of shooters that i absolutely love. i also greatly prefer the genesis' sound hardware, it sounds so wonderful! i'll take it over the SNES' mudded-up sample-based audio any time :]
