Addictive... thats an understatement. The game is like the internet. You sit down only planning on playing for a couple minutes and the next thing you know you have been captivated for hours.dsheinem wrote: You're doing better than me it seems. I plan to play lot more this week, but so far I am seeing this screen quite a good deal:
Still, the game is fun and has an addictive quality to it.
Oh, I forgot that I have the whole inverted castle after that boss... but I'm not sure if that is necessary or extra. Either way I will complete that too, but if it's optional Ill move on to ICO and come back to that in smaller chunks.
Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
I know that it is what makes the game challenging, but I hate how far away save points can be. I've probably spent 1/4 of my time playing this game re-doing stuff that I already did
Still, it's fun. I'm a little over 50% or so done and around level 20 I think. Hopefully things don't ramp up too much at the end - I'd like to get it finished and pick up Ico again (I never got much further than an hour into that game before).

Personally I consider the inverted castle to be part of the regular game. The area has new enemies and bosses, including the real final boss and better endings. Not to mention it'll probably take you less time than going through the castle for the first time considering with your advanced mobility and knowledge of the map.SpaceBooger wrote: Oh, I forgot that I have the whole inverted castle after that boss... but I'm not sure if that is necessary or extra. I just beat "Richter" (no spoilers) last night and it seems as if the Inverted Castle is a necessity.Dylan wrote:Personally I consider the inverted castle to be part of the regular game. So on to the inverted castle...
Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
Hmm, not glad to hear that. I am debating going to fight Richter as I have pretty much everything I might need and the most recent boss fights have been pretty easy. I was hoping that could be the end of it. I may stop there anyway, and consider it done.SpaceBooger wrote: it seems as if the Inverted Castle is a necessity.

Frankly, what was fun for the first couple of hours - exploring the castle, slashing and hacking, etc. - has grown tiresome in the last three hours as most of my time is spent backtracking, fighting the same enemies over and over, etc. just to get to one room where I can unlock something new, rinse, and repeat. I got frustrated at one point and had to check a guide to figure out that one statue moved randomly at timed intervals! I get that this is perhaps one of the best Castlevania games, but so far I'm not feeling it. What started out as great fun has become a great chore...

I know what you mean, there was one spot before beating the 1st castle I gave up on. It was the room with the medusa head and you have to hit the 4 gears a gazillion times... yeah I gave up. Now Im in the inverted castle. Seeing an empty map and knowing I have to do it all over again has dampened my experience, but that may change once I start exploring the Invert Castle.dsheinem wrote:Hmm, not glad to hear that. I've been playing all day and its getting a little frustrating ha
Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
It has nothing to do with being "weak," I just generally don't like backtracking in games. The Devil May Cry series is one of my favorites, but I really didn't like DMC4 due to the huge amount of backtracking - it ruined the experience for me. I'm feeling the same way about this game. It's not that I'm dying repeatedly - the game is actually fairly easy once you get powered up - it is that I keep going past the same stuff, fighting the same lame enemies, etc. The idea that I'd have to do it all again in "inverted" form doesn't sound very appealing at this point...Dylan wrote:You are all weak.
