Hello, I was thinking of selling a few things on the forum. What is the following worth:
Modded Saturn 32pin w/
One controller, av and power cords, action replay
Soft modded Xbox 8gig w/
Two controllers, a usb/controller hack, bunches of emulators installed
Modded Saturn w/
nothing; console only

question on a games worth.
I just bought a factory sealed copy of guilty gear (the original psx game) imported from japan for $20. The seller was getting rid of a TON of games, and I want ot say he might have overlooked the value of this one (it was best offer). Any guess as to what it's worth?
I just want to note that the rare games article on hear says that guilty gear is a cheap collectible, but if you go on ebay or amazon, you can't find a sealed copy for under $100 dollars. Any thoughts on the value of this import?

I haven't seen an active topic like this one, so I'll just toss it out there for you guys. This is a thread dedicated to others weighing in on your recent purchases to see if they thought it was a good deal. I'll try and answer any posts that don't already have responses to them.
For me, I just bought yakuza 1 and 2 complete for $36 (on ebay). I'm on the fence with this one, I feel like I paid a lot, but it still don't think it was a particularly bad deal. Plus those two games seem to be developing more of a cult status so they may go up in value. On the other hand "Yakuza 4" is coming out soon, which always affects a games price. Any thougths?

Got this at Gamestop today, where it was sold as a copy of "LoZ: Wind Waker."
There are no copies of this up on ebay, so I assume it's hard to find. It's on Amazon for 39.99, but that might be inflated for all I know, since ebay didn't help with real-time prices.
Any guidance? Should it be valued as Wind Waker + Metroid Prime (17 + 3 = $20), or is the sum worth more than its parts?

First off, if gamestop was STILL charging $20 dollars for a used gamecube game, you know that game is worth something
I'd say that sucker is probably worth the $40. The reason is if you go on amazon, you'll notice that there are only 3 copies for sale, one costs $40, the other two are closer to $80. None of these games are sealed, and the first one claims "may or may not include the original case or manual". This it a typical blurb from a powerseller, but generally these kinds of powerseller DON'T overcharge. In fact, they usually are pretty fair with their prices, because there's always the potential that a game might come incomplete, so they compensate for that by lowering those normally inflated prices. The fact is, however, that no one wants to buy from them, because we're not sure if the game will be complete, and we're also not sure if anyone is actually inspecting these games. This is even more true for a game like that, because the case is what distinguishes it "valuable". I'm sure that the case probably contains two regular looking games, so that case is a pretty big deal in terms of this item. That being said, you aren't a powerselling robot, so you could probably get even more than $40 dollars out of this thing, but it really all depends on how ebay is feeling. Since this game is obviously uncommon, it may not have any real reputation. Reputation is what makes games "valuable" in the collectors community, and because of that, not many people want to risk $40 on a game that they know little about or that might be worth squat.
Now depsite the skeptisism, a game that rare is bound to raise a few eyebrows, but people still might bid low because they suspect everyone else will also bid low, and the final price of the game could be a measily ten dollars or so. However, if the game is noticed, you might start a bidding war, and with little to go off of, the price might skyrocket. It really all just depends on luck and circumstance with a game like that. Combo games are frequently valued pretty highly, but not always. Now it is possible that this game is more well known amongst the gamecube collecting community, so someone else might know a lot better than me, but my guess is, that game is worth the $40 dollars.

Axlryder, thanks for a very in-depth reply!
I suppose you're right: there's likely someone out there who'll pay $40, or possibly even $80, just so his copy of Wind Waker and his copy of Metroid Prime can move in together and live in sin.
Video game collectors have strange wants.

hey, no probs. Maybe if you're lucky, the two cohabiting games will end up having a bunch of little DS cartridges before you sell it.
