Well I tried changing it to 480p, and the screen was blue and never went back. I'm pretty sure this TV is older than all that. Its a older earlier mid 2000s Sony Trinitron flat screen SD CRT TV. Probably not the ideal TV for next gen gaming but it works. And its weird because the main menu for the game where you choose between God of War and God of War II is full 4:3 but both games are in 16:9 only. Oh well.

You can hook up a composite cable temporarily to see and change your video settings back. While you are in Composite, see what God of War looks like at 480i. Maybe delete your God of War memory settings? Then try all the different resolutions from PS3 root menu. Running the game one at a time. Also I think the menu mode is in a different resolution.

I also have a Sony, a HD CRT 4:3 WEGA. 1080i would jump the same black bars widescreen mode. Still love it though, beats LCD especially for the Retros.

I am tempted to get that collection just to play God of War 2 all the way to the end. I've played through the original God of War and Chains of Olympus but never finished GOW2.

I wouldn't mind some nice, shiny trophies either. I easily got through God Mode on the original God of War and completed the trials too, so I bet I can nab a few trophies for that

God of War games in HD should look pretty damn amazing I'd imagine

I can't get excited for these games. I didn't like SOTC. I can't really say I am excited about the last guardian, either. Mainly because the Creature in The Last Guardian looks like something in a thousand other japanese books/movies/manga/etc. and western stuff, too.

Edit: Should mention why I didn't like SOTC. It's not because it isn't a great game. But (Yea I just started a sentence with but)Rather when people treat it like it was the second coming of Christ, and when I played it, it wasn't like that. I don't like it because my expectations were let down.

Edit: "People" = Gametrailers forum

Um, that's because it was

You're entitled to your opinion, but it boggles my mind how some people don't see the brilliance of games like Ico and Shadow of Colossus, or even games like Rez and Beyond Good and Evil. These are some of the greatest games the industry has ever seen, or will see

Can you name a game that did what Shadow of the Colossus did gameplaywise? Fusing boss fights with platforming and puzzle solving in such a unique way. The realistic physics at play in riding the horse and hanging on to the Colossuses. The realistic AI of the horse(just compare it to any horse in the Zelda games and you see the difference). Creating a game based entirely on the sense of awe of standing in front of a living thing that looks down at you like you are an ant. Or the sense of dread as you climb one of these things and then look down. Shadow of the Colossus is a game that was "Next Gen" when the term was a joke(it still is actually)

And while you claim the game's look has been done a thousand times outside of the world of gaming, how many actual video games have the same look as Ico and Shadow of the Colossus? I can't think of any

You seriously need to question why you still play games if a title like that doesn't impress you

funfact: no game that's ever treated "like it was the second coming of Christ" will ever meet those expectations. If you seriously expected such a mindblowing experience, then that's your problem, you were asking too much of it.

I've never let hype like that get to my head. At the most, I'll know to expect a potentially enjoyable game, never any more or less.

Your right, no games have a bland gray look like SOTC. (If you mean literally, instead of figuratively.) I didn't say I hated the game. and you cut out some of my quote to try and prove your point. DID you even READ my post? No, you didn't.

Quote, from me "I can't really say I am excited about the last guardian, either. Mainly because the Creature in The Last Guardian looks like something in a thousand other japanese books/movies/manga/etc. and western stuff, too." Image Just throwing that in there.

I was talking about The last Guardian. and the creature (Which I am assuming is the last guardian) Not SOTC. READ MY POSTS. I am tired of getting into argument because you read half the post and jump to conclusions. I don't care how realistic anything is in a game. Because why make the horse realistic when you are on the back of a giant fucking creature?

Like I said, in my post, I just don't think of the game like Gamerforlife does (treats it as if it's the best game, ever, ever ever ever ever, and is the best piece of art, ever ever.)

I don't think it is a bad game, I just not blown away from it. Gamerforlife"You're entitled to your opinion" and "You seriously need to question why you still play games if a title like that doesn't impress you" Oh, good. My opinion is that that title doesn't impress me like it does you, and I am ignoring that last quote, because it's my opinion. Also Colossuses isn't proper english. Colossi is the correct term. (seriously, you did that on purpose)

(As an example) Some people don't like comedy movies, some people don't like horror movies. Some of people hate artsy movies. Some people hate scifi movies. I don't like sotc as much as you do.

I like particulary genre of games more than others, I love adventure games, I love rpgs, I love Classic FPS. I hate most fighting games, I hate most rts games, I hate Sports games after 2000. I am not too fond of Zelda games as a whole.

It is hard to have an argument with someone that loves the game, when I am someone that thought it was okay and dislikes people who love games and try convince me to love a game

Whilst I actually think its fine that you dont love SOTC (thats your own opinion - i enjoy the game but dont think its the greatest thing i've ever played either) I'm just interjecting to be pedantic and point out that Colossuses is an acceptable plural of colossus in the same way cactuses is a plural of cactus:
