I love my Saturn model 2/Japanese controllers. They're light, durable, and accurate.

I picked the PSX/PS2 controller, they did did a lot of work on the ergonomics - it's still comfortable to use after hours of play. It's a nice size and feels right in the hand. I think the D-pad is the best on any pad. I think I play a better game of Ikaruga with the Dreamcast pad, although my thumb does tend to feel mangled after an hour or so. My third pick was the XBOX controller, the 360 - not the original which was a horrible thing to use. The 360 controller is pretty much perfect. It is actually a joy to use. Pun very much intended.
The NES pad actually cuts into your hand after an hour or so, but I still love it. The N64 controller is just bizarre, it breaks easily and I don't think I've ever used the D-pad for any game I own. Which games used it?

Here are my favourites, in order:

1) SEGA Dreamcast controller (hells yeah, baby! :D ). This controller fits perfectly in my hands. I just love everything about it. The shape feels like it was made for my hands specifically, the buttons and analogue stick ar in the perfect position, and the triggers have just the right amount of sensitivity. I also love the window fro the VMU. That, combined with the jumper pack, add just the right amount of weight to the controller.

2) DualShock 2. Had I not bought a Dreamcast, this would have been my all-time favourite. It is the controller I started out with. I have used this controller for nigh on ten years, and never once have I had anything to complain about. It is the perfect size for small hands (I was five when I first got my PS2), but it isnt too small for adults to enjoy. I have always loved the position of the joysticks, as they allow your thumbs to work in perfect harmony together in 3rd-Person games like the Ratchet & Clank series. Admittedly, they are not good for first-person games, but I don't play any of those, save for Halo on XBOX. Also, the four sholder buttons allow for more features in games, and
they are located just perfect for resting your fingers.

3) Nintendo 64 :) . Despite the fact that I do not currently own a N64, nor have I played one in about 3 years, but I love this controller. I alway thought that it was funny, having the middle handgrip, especially with it only housing two buttons and the joystick. However, it proved to be invaluable with most of the games. The only downside is that when I last played the N64, I was about eight years old, and I always kept my left hand on the middle grip. I couldn't reach the left shoulder button easily when I needed to. Other than that, I can't complain about this controller.

Welcome to the forums, InsomniacGamer, and excellent first post. I too have wondered how I was supposed to reach the L button with my left hand on joystick for the N64.

The Dual Shock is my favorite controller overall, but at this point I've been using it for nigh-on fifteen years.
