For the most part I think they look pretty good. It will accept and scale 1080i, but it's only ED at 852x480 for the actual resolution. This may help the older consoles look good, or maybe I'm just less picky. Older 'flicker' type shadows usually don't look too great, though it varies by system and whether the shadow is moving or not. Some of these are from memory as they're not hooked up right now, but anyway.
SMS - composite - Some looks ok, some like reds bleed really bad. Genesis - composite - Looks like ass like you'd expect. Hopefully an s-video mod will help whenever I get to it. NES - composite - Looks ok. It depends on the colors used and the contrast between them. Some combinations give pretty well defined pixels, some edges have what looks like a freeze frame of dot crawl when the picture is still. PCE/TG-16 - composite - Looks pretty good, some of the same edge issues as the NES, but overall looks better than the NES image.
SNES / N64 / PS1 / Saturn - s-video - These all look great IMHO.
Hobie I hate you, if only you knew how long I've looked to find a native EDTV but nothing comes up in my area.
My Consoles: Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Just subbed to this guy's channel. He has some epic Dreamcast videos. He recently put up a video about the Dreamcast light guns and shows one working with a VGA monitor. This marks the first time I have seen it in action.
So far CRT vote tally is still ahead, but barely. I should have made the vote as favorite, not currently owned. From what I have see from visits to Frys, Best Buy and Walmart a CRT cannot be bought new anywhere. Get them at Goodwill and Swap Meet while you can, CRTs getting as rare as that contest winner game cart.
I have been adding a lot to the OP, including additional information on semi related Guides in the OP. I also included links to some of my other posts that may be of use. I renamed my CRT VS LCD signature link to reflect the change.
Wow, that was a very interesting read (about the SEDs). A shame as they appear to have been more technically sound than the LCD format that everyone has come to accept today.
Thanks for that link, an interesting read. A shame wasn't cost effective to give the customer a choice. From reading the article, looks like no "Gun Scan" so conventional lightguns probably would not have worked on the SED phosphor. Agree, looked like it could have duplicated the brightness of a CRT. The new LED TVs will probably fill that niche.
Amazing guides CRTgamer! But I gotta say, how are you not a mod yet? With great stuff like this, and helping others on this forum, it's surprising you're not a mod already!

Thanks. I just enjoy reading and writing of game related information, especially when dealing with Modding systems.
The OP is my first guide I posted here, has really grown with all the add on Edits.
I should have attached a pic at the start, a quick way of seeing the total view hits. A good feeling when I see my guides appear in the Google search pages.
EDIT Added information on Anamorphic vs Non-Anamorphic issues.
