So... let's start our own game development group.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Can't you just use this site? Maybe make a section specific for it?

But we CAN for Dreamcast? Ugh. Apparently I don't work well with others.

The GBA is much more difficult to develop for and we can't sell our games for it.

The Dreamcast is pretty easy to develop for, and any game we make for it can be sold for profit.

The GBA is also very limited, almost to being too much like a slightly more powerful Super NES, whereas the Dreamcast has power that is above the PS1 but just under the PS1. It also has a greater following outside of the mainstream.

And also... making GBA carts are hellaciously expensive if we were to mass produce them. Dreamcast games, however, are nothing more than CD-R copies.

But like I said, our first project should be something accessible to both the hardcore and casual gamer. And in Flash.

Do some work in Flash and slowly move up to downloadable games for the PC, via Steam and their ilk. Naturally, we'd most likely start off as sort of a Popcap-like company, and slowly expand into other platforms and genres, and perhaps away from casual games and more into hardcore gamer-oriented works.

But like I said before... we stick to 2D in the beginning. Maybe years later we can move to 3D.

And as for the site, we can start on the board, then move to a Facebook or a BlogSpot page.

well whatever. It's yr baby. But Why do you say we can't sell the carts for GBA? This site here: http://www.rgcd.co.uk/shop/ released 3 homebrew GBA carts and sold them for profit. So I assumed that was possible? I mean I'm not trying to be a dick, just curious why it would be different to sell a flashcart with GBA homebrew on it or sell a CDR with Dreamcast homebrew on it?

Flashcarts are not games, but rather third party peripherals which is a completely different type of category than actual game software and ROM cartridges.

It all comes back down to the media quality control issue that I mentioned earlier. All that Dreamcast Homebrew actually comes out on PRESSED discs which are (as the name states) pressed and stamped in a factory.

Burned media is not the media of choice for a distribution as too many factors that can go awry, production is slow and arduous (Burning, then checking a few hundred discs is just impossible) and quality control becomes practically nonexistent given CR-R's tendencies to randomly oxidize and bit rot under even the best of conditions sometimes within even weeks of being burned.

Burned CR-R media is a disservice to both you and the customer and should be avoided.

Off topic: I see someone else saw that MadMax marathon on AMC last weekend.

I agree, flash would be a good platform to start with. When I said DC, I meant at a later time.
