Re: Portables hacked into consoles?
Hey noise i was thinking that the PSP go might be pretty easy to hack into a actual Console, since it does support Bluetooth and ps3 controllers, so it wouldnt require any sort of controller mod.noiseredux wrote:remember when this thread used to be about portables hacked into consoles?
take the innards out of the PSPgo
put them in a custom made console casing
buy the TV out cables and run them to a tv
sync PS3 controllers to the GO
keep the PSPgo constantly charged
portable into a console. The GOstation.
Re: Portables hacked into consoles?
You'd think Sony would have added an upscaler by now so PSP games dont have a huge black border around them...
I guess PSP2 will get that

Nice! That's the kinda project I'm talking about. Seems awesome to me.

Once I finish Steam64, should I do this with a PSP 2000?
A PSPgo seems to easy

1. what's Steam64?DNT 2.5 wrote:Once I finish Steam64, should I do this with a PSP 2000?

2. I think a PSP 2000 console would be a pretty cool project. Though you'd have to take the second P out of PSP and call it something else.

I'm glad there's somebody else who is sane in this thread.
Just because the DS has a touch screen doesn't mean every single game uses it. Take a look at the all top rated games on the DS
Advance Wars dual strike - touch optional
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - hardly used at all apart from the odd finishing move and the clear ice blocks
Elite Beat Agents - used as main input
Kirby Canvas Curse - used as main input
Mario & Luigi Partners In Time - hardly used
Mario Kart DS - not used at all
Meteos - either
New Super Mario Bros - not used
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - completely superfluous use, it can be used for menu navigation but not needed at all
Super Mario 64 - can be used but works better without
Phantom Hourglass - sole input method
Animal Crossing - optional.
Bomberman DS - optional
FFXII Revenant Wings - optional
Geometry Wars - not used
Metroid Prime Hunters - main method of input
Mr Driller - optional
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney series - required in investigation scenes only
Picross DS - main method of input
Puzzle League - optional
Puzzle Quest - optional
Sonic Rush series - hardly used
Tetris DS - seldom use, i think it's one mode
Castlevania Portrait of Sorrow - same as Dawn of Sorrow, i used it a lot less in this one though
I could go on but thats 25 games where only 4 require you to use the stylus as the main input. Hardly most games is it? It's not even 20%.
I'm not having a dig at the PSP, the PSP has it's own merits as a gaming system, I wouldn't have bought one on launch day if I thought it was a hunk of junk, since I already had a DS at the time. What I do question is that you say the PSP is smaller than the DS when it clearly isn't. Mr Popo brought up a valid point regarding the GBA and the GBC, the SP feels smaller than the GBC because the part you hold (IE the bit without the screen on it) is much smaller. whereas the GBC feels smaller than the original GBA since the part you hold is much smaller despite the two systems being the same sieze roughly when compared horizontally.
This argument is not about the superioty of either console or that DS games can be done on a PSP, you're clearly a Sony fanboy, and any insult on the PSP means it's directly reflected on your self worth, since you're getting your panties in a bunch over this.
Let me put it simply, you claimed the PSP is smaller and easier to hold than the DS lite. I begged to differ, on a factual basis, that the DS lite is smaller than the PSP no matter which way you look at it, it also weighs less, I weighed all my systems and gave you the figures. I also argued subjectively that the DS lite feels better to hold which you could argue about.

interesting...i really dont know much about hacking sega stuff, but after a quick search i found this: http://disgruntleddesigner.com/chrisc/s ... g2sms.htmlpepharytheworm wrote:That reminds me that you can play Master System games on the Game Gear with the Master Converter. I wonder if the oposite could be done. Is there an adaptor that lets you play Gamegear on the SMS. If not is it possible?
it explains how to hack a master system to play game gear games. unfortunately...it deals more with software rather than hardware hacking. still good info though.
Heres a tv-out mod for the gamegear http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6234&
also, here is the adaptor mentioned to play master system games on game gear: Master Gear v2 Converter

Re: Portables hacked into consoles?
Well if it still interests you i am making a gamegear/master system duo type of console. Im quite far through it, only need to make a custom master system controller with a start button (proving surprisingly difficult), and a actual case to house it in. Ill post up some pictures after christmas if you want as i dont have a camera at the moment. O and in case your wondering im making it master system compatable by using the converter for the gamegear.
One quick thing, know any truely good gamegear games? Lots are utter rubbish and the best ones i've found are simply ok games but nothing special, any help would be appreciated.
