I don't think the forum has gone down hill I still post just as much as I used to. I still have a 2 post a day average. Which doesn't sound a lot, but when you consider I've been here A LOT longer than other people. I've been here longer than Moz, Duct, Ack, whoever forum celeb you care to mention. I'm member number fucking 10 man. I've been here for what seems like forever, nearly 3 and a half years as a member. I've seen so many members come and go, the good members stay for a while, some stay even longer, but most of the shitty members don't stay for long at all.

What I have noticed though is, we get the ass hole members right when Nick gets articles featured or gets a mention. Internet fame will always attract an asshole, it always happens. I think as a whole we're such a solid community that we tend to oust the rotten eggs, or convert them pretty quickly.

It sucked that Duct left, I always enjoyed his posts. No matter how off the wall they were or if I agreed with him, I still enjoyed those epic rides he would take us on. Moz leaving has hit me particularly hard because he's one of the few people I actually talk to outside of the forum, It's just completely shocked me since It's happened during a particular down time of use on my part. I just can't believe it. I nearly always post in Moz's threads (apart from the review section, since I just never really had any reason to debate since I generally agreed with the entire review) just because I knew there would be at least one post in there with some conjecture or just an interesting point of view.

Sure I wish we had some deeper conversations, but it's quite challenging to build that up.
Plus, it's hard to walk a fine balance between deep conversation and elitism.
I've seen a few other forums (not to name names) that have a large problem with elitism. Sure they don't have GameFAQs syndrome, but they are the least welcoming places out there and if you say the wrong thing to the wrong person, you're insta-banned.
I used to post on Gamefaqs and Gamespot, and know EXACTLY what your talking about. I once said that an article I saw on Gamespot was lame, so they permabanned me. 24 times in 15 minutes for that one offense at that, apperantly just to make sure.

Mozgus wrote:Nothing dramatic or well written here. The forum just isn't for me anymore. It hasn't been for a long time now. As popularity of this site has risen, the quality of the average user has plummeted. I can't remember the last time I've had a worthwhile and memorable conversation with anyone here. Take a look at every active thread from today. There's not a single one I have any desire to post in. These subjects can be found on ANY forum. Nothing has an ounce of originality. This isn't how things used to be here. This probably sounds like a mass-scale insult to everyone here, but it isn't. It's just how I see things.

There were a good couple dozen regular users since 2006 here who have left without saying goodbye, and fortunately, since I keep in touch with most of them via AIM/MSN/YAHOO/STEAM/GMAIL, I've heard many similar reasons for their departure, which reassures me of my sanity regarding my own reasons.

My other reason, unique to myself, is that accepting the offer of mod status years ago was the biggest mistake and waste of effort I've ever made in regards to a web community. I begrudgingly agreed initially, and it only became less worthwhile as time went on. Me and Nick have never seen eye to eye on how a forum can be considered a success, and massive voids in communication only complicated matters. I think Nick would admit he only picked me back then because of my post count. That's never good criteria for forum staff. I'm sure he knows this now, as I've long since been the piece that doesn't fit into this puzzle.

Bye, guys. Anyone who might miss me can surely find a means to stay connected. Those who hate me may now break out the sparklers.

in b4 door hitting ass on way out.
Haha, you always were an asshole!

Dude is the ultimate message board cliche and doesn't even realize it. Making a "this isn't dramatic" drama filled final goodbye post in which he scolds new users for not posting like the good ole days just proves that. He's overly negative, overly critical and while he's constantly whining about quality of posts it does nothing but hurt the board when he litters it with his complaints. While I agree that the posts might not be as good as they were when I started(which was only like 10 months ago so I'm no vet) I still see the merits in discussing something like "The best PS1 games for now" even though its probably been talked about tons of times on here. And I think there are still interesting people on this board and still interesting posts ie: the one about libraries closing down in philly, thats crazy.

Don't let this guy make you feel dumb for enjoying this website just cause he says something clever every once in a while and has a high post count. Bottom line, dude is a grump and would rather look for something negative to say than try and see the good in a thread, not a huge loss to the community in my opinion.

As much as I thought he was a good user, I have to admit: what he probably like best in real life is acting like a grumpy old man.

The irony is that I'm only negative half the time. Half the things I talked about on here were things I love. People like you only saw the negative posts. What does that say about your own disposition?

Who? Me? I never said anything about you being negative. Nothing wrong with being honest in my opinion. I was just bidding you farewell, and in case you missed the humor I was doing so in good nature.

Oi! Fuck off!!!

If you've gone, you've gone. Don't keep coming back just when you feel like it - fuck off into the ether, quiter-boy!

and No - you can't post here because it's your 'good-bye' thread... you're gone. :fullstop:
