Gameplay wise it is right on the money and any King Of Fighter fan will love the game engine. Here's another issue.

KOF games generally come out in a season of story then a game which doesn't have a story but has an utter shitload of fighters in the one game. This game has no story and no utter shitload of fighters.

Go to the arcades and play it, that's what you will be getting nothing more nothing less (Online of course but meh).

People play pretty cheaply online at times, but it's pretty easy to figure out ways around it.

For example, any time you fight Joe (a.k.a EVERY FIGHT), every 3 out of 4 moves will be the Tiger Kick. It's fast, it's powerful and it travels across the whole screen. However, if you block high, you can pretty immediately counter with an attack of your own.

Joe, Kyo, Robert, Ryo, Kim, Leona and Ash get the most play, usually in that order.

The first four are kinda like Ken, in that they have a huge variety of moves - so, the main thing to get right is countering each of those moves with your own attacks.

Kim, Leona and Ash, on the other hand, are used by turtlers. They'll just sit in the corner, holding down+back, waiting for you to get close so they can do a flash-kick. Taking these guys out requires a defensive rush-down - rush them, anticipate their attack, and then counter it. This, unfortunately, is a lot easier to do offline than online, due to lag issues really messing up your timing.

see I was worried about stuff like that...that takes the fun out of it...atleast in the arcades you could have a buddy behind the other player and just punch him in the back of the head if he starts that crap lol.

That just kills the fun factor in an online fighter when everyone does cheap stuff...I remember in street fighter finding ONE person that was worth fighting and me and him went for about 3 hours non stop...just back and forth I win he win...that was fun. But when people start doing the cheap shot over and over and over...its just horrible.

Yeah. I've got a few people I added to my friend's list simply because when I fought them, they weren't cheap and were just fun to play against in general.

Like I said, though, most of the cheap stuff in this game can be easily countered. Just takes a while to figure out the proper response, sometimes.

I really wanna play this game, but whenever I see the $59.99 price tag, it makes my wallet hurt.

Its really not worth the RRP, pick it up second hand if you really want it. I think a mag I was reading yesterday with a review said it best. Paying for this game would only be justifiable if it was a downloadable game with a $10 price tag.

Exactly. But for some reason, the price isn't going down anytime soon. I remember when Lair was getting that publicity of a really crappy PS3 game, and the game went down to $20 like nothing. KOFXII should at least drop to $40, maybe even $30.

$10? Who the hell said that?
$40 would be about right. I'd honestly say it should go down to about $30 if it wants to compete with Street Fighter IV (although I honestly believe its trying to compete with BlazBlue instead). $10 is just an insult.
