The game that everyone hates you for hating...!

I'm glad to hear all this hatred of JRPGs! I thought I was the only one who was sick of whiny wimpy "heroes". You guys are right on! Why is the protagonist always 13-17 years old? ...Teenagers? ...Saving the world?
Yeah, OK...

That's why I find very few RPGs to play. This stupid anime obsession with kids as heroes. What do these JRPG developers have against adults?

I've got less of a problem with them being teenagers than I do with them being so generically Tolkien-esque. Also, the 'save the world' part is another thorn in my side. I understand the need to make it feel epic, but there are other ways you can make it feel 'high stakes' without the world resting on your shoulders.

The truth is that I love a good JRPG, but... they just don't happen as much anymore. I place the finger of blame on CGI cut-scenes. Advent Children is like a movie that contains all that is wrong with JRPGs these days.

Good to see I'm not the only one who preferred GTA2 over Vice City and San Andreas. In fact, I might just say I GTA2 was my favorite in the whole series.

Super Mario Bros. for the NES was my first video game. I hated it then, and I hate it today. It's really weird, considering that I love most 2D platformers.
What the hell is wrong with you?

Because the Japanese believe, much like in Logan's Run, that when you turn 25-30 your life ends and you shrivel up into an old hag or grandpa. Seriously, the 30-year-old people in Japan don white robes, file into a large cylindrical chamber, and are vaulted to the ceiling where they explode and are reborn through Carousel... why do they run?

Anyway, any woman in a JRPG or anime that is over 20 years old is ragged on for being a "hag" or some "old lady" even though she's only 24 YEARS OLD. Isn't Cid always joked as the "old dude?" I get tired of having the main character be a 17 year old and I didn't find it made any more sense even when I was 17 or younger. And for nonJRPGs there is always the medieval/space opera theme with no character development... so it just depends on how good the game is (D&D vs Mass Effect).

Also, I really can't stand Sonic.

It's not a game, but I hate the Mega64 guys and all who like them. That shit has never been funny. There's not a single thing clever about what they do. They just know no shame. Anyone can do what they do. They're nothing more than rejected LARPers. If I wanted to watch LARPers, I walk two blocks from my house to a park, where just last week my roommate and I discovered some in the wild.

Has there ever once been an RPG with a lead character in their 30's or 40's who's raised a kid? I think that would be a nice change.

Closest we have is DQ5, where the main character starts as a kid, then gets married at 18 and has twins, then is frozen as a statue until he's 27 and is unfrozen by his kids, and finally goes on the save the world journey with his kids (and his kid is the hero of legend, not him).

Guitar Hero/Rock Band:
it's karaoke with plastic guitars and drums and i hate how these idiots who plays the games think they're some how better than musicians who wrote the songs. that whole audience is a bunch of delusive teen angers that have are convinced that they're musicians when they're not. Fuck rhythm games and their fans.

3D Platformers:
everyone of them has terrible camera's that mess up every jump that you try to make and they're just clunky.

I also hate games that every 5 minutes your figuring out a new puzzle. I'm talking about you God Of war, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil.

Grand theft Auto is trying to become a video game version of The Wire and it's make me livid.

Fallout III:
It's slow, way too long and just boring.

Street Fighter: IV:
It's not difficult enough for hardcore fighting fans.
It's fighting system lack depth.
Seth is a generic boss with a terrible name.
The game only offers basic modes.
You can't customize fighters.
Lack of quest mode.

Mirrors Edge:
Unresponsive controls at vital times.
Unforgiving check points.
Generic graphics.

Gears of War Series:
How your forced to use the cover system.
Run and gun play style can not be done efficiently in this game.
Is there a story?
Generic military guys.
How Resistance and Gears Of Wars are compared but they're nothing a like.
Gears Of War elitist who think the series is perfect and if you disagree with you them you or an idiot or ''noob''

Other games so many love that I just can't get into:

The Resident Evil series. Even the 4th one.

Ikaruga. Mildly fun, but the colour switching element just gives me a headache. I just want to shoot things. Prefer Mars Matrix/Giga wing.

Metroid Prime. Played it for about an hour then never touched it again after I just ended up going around in circles in a snow level.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves. Not sure why but this just didn't click with me. Need to try it again really, but for some reason I just found it rather difficult to get into.

I repeat though: I don't hate any of them, I haven't played enough of most of them to say that, they just don't motivate me to play them.

Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and anything else where you push a button when the icon passes through the area to a beat.

I dunno, maybe they could change the story, or setting. Sure I'll admit WindWaker had a different setting(and funny enough it's my favourite in the series). But for the most part the setting has always been the same. Hyrule and the surrounding dungeons. The story hasn't changed once. Your always saving the Princess/Hyrule. From what I heard, Majora's Mask was different in both departments, and maybe that's true. But From the little knowledge I have of MM they just changed Hyrules name and made it smaller. Then instead of saving Hyrule and/or the princess your saving the new town.

You always go in dungeons. You always use the standard sword and shield(of which the Master Sword is definitively best). You always get a boomerang, bombs, boots, potions, a bow, something to smash stuff with and a few other random trinkets you'll only use once. You always find a small key to open doors and a big key to open the boss door. You always get a suit that lets you swim underwater along with the standard green affair. You always play as Link. You always kill Gannon as the end-game-boss. You always ride a horse named Epona(OK, or a boat called the king of lions). Zelda always needs to be saved. You always fight man-eating plants, piles of goo, and jumping spider things.

I'm not trying to be a fanboy or anything but they seriously need to change something with the flow of the Zelda games(Other than a stinking train) for me to seriously give them a second chance at winning my gamer-heart.
